Poor Public Image

I'm just going to vent here. The course is very well kept and fun to play. I get to Jupiter for two months out of the year and, as I live nearby this course, I play it three or four times. This year I am unable to play because I am rehabbing a shoulder injury and can't swing a club. I can, however, putt. Trying to keep up my skill in this area I wandered over to the course to practice on the putting green. It was three o'clock in the afternoon and no one was using the green and no one that I saw was signing up to play. In fact, the parking lot was nearly empty. As I approached the green a course ranger who was sitting in his cart jumped out and confronted me and asked if I had signed up to play. Of course, I did not and tried to explain why. The ranger wasn't interested, "just following orders". I left without saying anything. Several things occurred to me, one being that they were more interested in cultivating a few blades of grass than in cultivating a friendly golfing atmosphere. I fail to see what harm could come from having a few people actively using the golf course as a major road to the beach passes right by and potential golfers would assume that it is an active course and worth playing rather than seeing an empty and desolate facility. Although I am not suggesting anyone should not play there, it is a great little course, but I myself will never return.

Cart ripoff.

I signed up as a single and was told i would be playing with a threesome. The morning of our round only two of the three some showed and, naturally the two remaining players grabbed a cart together.. I had to ride alone and the person at the desk charged me double the cat fee for "riding alone" . I protested that it wasn't my fault someone i didn't know didn't show up and i shouldn't be charged double. I was told "that's how management wants it". I paid because i had sat in a lot of traffic to get there and i really wanted to play. However, i won't go back. Otherwise course is in good shape and has some interesting holes.

Great course.

Coarse is very challenging, requiring thought on every shot. Lots of water, lots of sand. Bring lots of ball's. Greens generally fast, but this was inconsistent. A real challenge.

Conditions poor

Starter admitted course was in bad shape due to fungus. No carts allowed on fairways. Course was in good shape in the spring. Give it a rest and a chance to recover. Staff is very friendly and maintenance seems to be trying. Just not a lot of grass to play on.

Good time, but........

Had a very nice time, even tho we didn't play too good. Course was in excellent condition. However, they were not allowing carts on the course itself, cart path only. That's why the course is in good shape but it made for a longer round and for the older members of our group it meant a lot of walking and hill climbing. Two of our group were visibly exhausted at the end of the round and played the last few hole poorly. We should have been warned of the limited use of the carts.

Excellent course for the area

Got a good deal on Golf Now. Teed off at 8:10 AM there was an outing going off at 8:30. I played alone on the Pines and Links courses and finished in about three hours. The fairways were lush and I was able to take a lot of "bacon slice" divots. Greens had some crab grass but were true and I got good roll on my putts. Course could use better signage leading from one hole to the next as I made wrong turns a few times. It is a great course to play.

Great, fair course.

Got a good price from golf now and played at 8am. Finished in 4 hrs. Course was in generally good condition with some crabgrass but not too bad. Greens were slower than most Florida courses but rolled true. Wish I had played better but it was not the course's fault.

Tough course, Needs some TLC

Tee boxes in awful shape and greens in only fair shape. If you don't know the course be prepared for a some lost balls on even good shots. Golf cart GPS gave a good look at hole layout but was unable to give distances as it was not fully functional. It could be a real fun course but only once you've gained some course knowledge. Tough for first timers.

Fun Challenge

I played here about 4 years ago and I remember a better maintained course. Tees and greens are not in the best condition, That aside, the course is fun to play with a lot of thought having to go into each shot.
I managed to find the fairway on almost all my tee shots but still put three balls into water that I did not realize was there. If you can't play with someone who is familiar with the course get a course guide book in the pro shop.

Terrific course.

Course is extremely well laid out. This was my first time playing there and I was grateful to be playing with people who were familiar with the course as way to the next tee box was not always obvious. A good mix of challenging and easier holes.

Good Value

Nicely laid out course with some challenges. Not too long from the white tees. Tee boxes could use an upgrade as to level surfaces and good turf. Pace of play was good. Like all courses open to the public too many ball marks on the greens.

Always fun

I have played here about 5 times and felt that the course was in excellent shape for this time of year. Got to play the links nine for the first time and it was a lot of fun. A few rolling fairways, a moderate amount of water and elevated greens made for a nice, but not impossible, challenge. Look forward to playing again soon.

Needs Work

Several things led me to be very disappointed in this course. The practice green was in excellent shape but the greens on the course {Heron/Osprey) were terrible and inconsistent. A lot of bare spots and areas of apparent fungus (we have had a lot of rain). Cart paths were poorly marked and several times we found ourselves at the wrong tee box. Most egregious, and ruined my day, was when the course ranger asked us to speed up play, when, in fact, we were waiting on almost every shot for the group ahead of us. Last, and the bane of all public courses, were the unraked traps, unrepaired ball marks, and uncared for divots.

Thank you for your comments regarding your round on February 17, 2016. Unfortunately, we must agree that several greens on the Osprey/Heron course were not up to our standards during the month of February. Record rain fall and cloud cover during the months of December and January created challenges maintaining golf courses during this period. Thankfully, the warm and sunny weather we have had the last several weeks has allowed our greens to recover substantially.

Our rangers are trained to speak to golfers when they are out of position. However, it sounds as if this occurred with a check of what was going on in front of you. We will speak with our rangers to re-enforce with them to maintain our pace of play standards with all groups on the course.

If there is anything further you would like to share with us, please contact our manager, Mac Hood, at (561) 629-8800 or via email at mhood@pbcgov.org.

Somewhat fair.

Course was in pretty good shape after all the rain we've had in Fla. Sand traps were packed tight and difficult to play out of, too wet. Otherwise, it played fairly, rewarding good shots and punishing bad.

Fun Course

Course has many interesting holes, reachable in regulation for less than long hitters. Fairways were in decent shape but there were a lot of sand filled divots close to the greens, probably due to the wet weather we have had . Overall, it was a fun course to play and I will be back.

Thank you for coming out and playing the Village, we truly appreciate it. We are honored that you would take the time out of your day to write a review. It is also much appreciated! We agree there are several interesting holes that are very playable for most golfers. Yes, with the wet weather lately there have been quite a few "heavier" shots then normal , leaving some repair to be done(which it sounds like it was :) We look forward to coming out to play the course in the near future! Thanks again!

Could be better

A very playable course. No water which cuts down on lost balls and the accompanying penalties. Greens were tricky and had a lot of pock marks. Maybe it is caused by a fungus what with all the rain we've had. Otherwise course is in reasonable shape.

Fun Course

Some interesting holes. Learn where the water is, particularly on 9 and 18. It is often out of sight until you walk up to the great shot you just hit and find out it tumbled into the water.

Understaffed

Course was in very good shape except for one green. Play backed up on a few par threes but we still got our round in in about 4 hours. Biggest problem was the starter seemed over worked. He was so busy bringing up carts that I nearly missed my tee time. He was never at the first tee.

Challenging

Except for the slow pace of play, which I was told is unusual, the course was enjoyable. A lot of wildlife and holes that make you think. Interesting layout with holes that run alongside of homes and not between them. You rarely feel as if someone's yard might be in play, or that you have to play away from the houses. Fairways are mostly wide and greens are average size and difficult to hold. Very fast also. It is The kind of course you will score much better on once you are familiar with the layouts.

Great condition

This course had the best conditioned greens I've played while here in Fl. I played the longest tees and the narrow fairways offered a challenge to iron play. It was a very enjoyable outing.
