West Hills Par 3
Played On 06/15/2014Great Value
I live very near this course, and it's a great place to go work on your mid-short game or if you want to get a quick 9 in, as it's typically not too crowded. I have, and will continue to play here often.
With that being said there is far more to be desired from the greens, which on a par 3 is where you spend most of your time. Greens are cut very long, so it's as though you need to take a full swing to get it to move 5 feet. More, there are clovers and other weeks growing in the middle of them, which can have an affect on the direction of your putt. Putts on-line are known to hit the clovers and move off the line.
Tam O'Shanter of Pennsylvania
Played On 9/22/2013Nice course
Arrived at the course for the first tee time of the day. We were slowed a little bit at the first hold due to the groundscrew doing their daily rolling/mowing of the green. The course itself was very forgiving, and it played a lot easier than it was rated. Simply due to the fact that it's an hours drive for me, I'm unsure if I'd play it again, but overall, not a bad course.
Dogwood Hills Golf Course
Played On 9/2/2013great round
The layout of the course fairly short in comparison to other places, but it was very hilly to make up for this. Further, there was no sand to be found, and much of the water is out of play. The fairways were pretty long, and the rough was very long. Hitting into the rough could definitely hurt you, as it should. Greens were VERY well maintained, and very fast -- doesn't take much to send the ball flying off. Overall though, it was a great value course and I would highly recommend the drive to my friends.
Marada Golf Course
Played On 8/4/2013Course could use some improvements
When on the course, you can see the potential this 9-hole course has. Pretty settings, long-fairways, sharp doglegs. However, the grounds crew does not take advantage of this. This can best be exemplified by the sand traps which have been removed over the years, because when you see one that has been left to be overtaken by grass, you understand why the others were taken out. Further showing the need for better maintenance is just how long the grass is on the "fairways". The length of the grass would easily be the first cut of rough on other courses. With that being said, the greens are very nice. Not too fast nor too slow, and they have plenty of movement. Overall, it was a $25 well spent for a round of great.
