Brutally slow

Tee times too close together. Management needs to space out groups, otherwise you are doomed to a 5.5hr plus round. Unable to truly enjoy what is otherwise a good golf course because of pace of play.

Steele Canyon - Jan 18th

Some large elevation changes, especially among the canyons create some challenging shots.

Love this Pete Dye layout

The dormant winter grass conditions left things a little thin in places and looking a little brown, but very playable with the greens still rolling fairly true. As is often the case at Carleton Oaks, pace of play was slow; the course is tough enough to back things up, especially on the par 3s.

Smells like sewage

I realized that our 6:22am tee-time might be a little close to sun-up, but seriously!? They were sending groups out at 6:05am in complete darkness. Chalk that one up to `my bad`. However, the clubhouse situation afterwards was all their fault. They were hosting a wedding, and the entire restaurant area was off limits. Instead, we were pushed for a post-round drink to the back of the parking lot, where it smelled like raw sewage, and we could order from a limited selection of bar drinks. I understand that golf courses like extra non-golf revenue, but they have to understand who is ultimately paying the bills and provide some minimum of service.
