Beechwood Golf Course - Creekside/Lakeview
Played On 09/25/2017Fun Course to play!
Beechwood is a tad out of our usual travel to play golf, however, a Tee Time Golf Pass made the trip worthwhile. The course is in good shape, the greens are hard and any shot that lands/rolls to the side will generally roll off. Greens putted fairly well. Previous reviews mentioned to poor condition of the bunkers, but it is obvious that they have been working on them. Beechwood has three 9 hole courses so variety is the name of the game there. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and we definitely will return in the future,
NOTE: did not utilize the snack bar so I cannon comment on that aspect.
Reserve/Woods at Indian Springs Golf Club
Played On 09/21/2017Challenging
Played on a Thursday afternoon in September and it was like having our own personal golf course! Most fairways have ample width, but still easy enough to get in trouble if you are not hitting it straight. Greens were hard and fast, but putted fairly true. There were a couple of pins located where it was difficult to get to them or stop the ball from rolling off the green. This course is fairly hilly and would not be all that easy to walk, even for the young, flat bellies! Many approach shots are uphill and the greens are surrounded by rough, so you must carry the ball onto or very near the green. There are ample bunkers to avoid and some water to hit over, but neither are overwhelming. There are four sets of tees and it is a very stout course from the tips at 7072. Blue is 6688, white is 6121 and the gold measures at 5348. Those distances will play longer with the uphill approaches to the greens. The pro shop is small but appeared to be adequately staffed and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a large room with a snack bar but did not check it out or eat there. Bottom line, a very enjoyable round on a very nice golf course. We will definitely play it again!
The Savannahs Golf Course
Played On 10/13/2015Has Potential
Booked through GolfNow for a great price after hearing from a local that it's a "great course". Greens are decent and fairly fast, while fairways tend to have some rough spots scatered throughout. It appears that the heavy rains earlier in the year coild be the culprit. Given some time and TLC, the course should bounce back nicely.
Whay we didn't know by booking through GolfNow was that a girls HS golf match teed off at 0800 and backed up our scheduked starting time by roughly 45 min. With no course marshall to keep things moving, a threesome and two twosomes in front of our foursome slowed play considerably and made it a very long round. Would play again if in the area and hope for better playing conditions on the course.
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2014Worth the Drive
Course conditions markedly improved from our last visit about three yrs ago. At 5500+ yds from the forward tees, this course can eat you up if you are not playing your best. It would be a beast from the tips at 7400+ yds! The few soggy areas we noticed were not in play for the most part. The greens were in decent shape and rolled nicely. I would definitely recommend a shorter set of tees for the women, as 5500 yds can be discouraging for any female who hits the ball 150-175 yds or less off the tee.
Purchased a golf and lunch special and the service in the snack bar was a tad slow due to some type of spillage in the kitchen. The selection of items on the special was adequate and the service was great in spite of the delay.
We will definitely return to Hunters Creek in the future!
The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 10/29/2014Tough but Playable
Course conditions are the best I have seen over the last five years or so of playing here. The greens were of average speed, but easy to 3 jack if not careful. Pin positions were decent for a resort course. Played in the early afternoon and it was like having a private golf course, with hardly anyone else playing! Well stocked proshop and decent food and beverage available. Love the GPS system on the carts. Staff attentive from the bag drop area to the proshop and back to the bag drop area when finished. Clubs were cleaned and put in vehicle for us. Beverage/snack cart out on course in spite of little play.
Bottom line, a fun course to play at GolfNow prices, but not so much at rack rates!
White Heron Golf Club
Played On 10/27/2014Lots of Water but Still Playable!
To look at the course diagram on the scorecard, the water and narrow fairways would have you wondering why in the world did I select this course to play. In reality, there is a lot of water, however, the course is more than wide enough to avoid it. The course is in excellent shape and the greens roll very nicely. Some bunkers had no rakes and others had only one (1). The staff is very friendly and the pro shop is adequately stocked with clothing, balls, tees, etc. Did not see any clubs available for purchase or trial. There is a range and practice putting green. The carts do not have GPS. There is also a snack bar that serves typical golf course fare and has plenty of seating.
We purchased a golf/lunch special that included choice of hot dog or ham or turkey wrap or sandwich and chips. The drink was additional and my only complaint was the $8+ charge for three (3} sodas.
We would definitly play this course again!
Worth the trip
Decent course with lots of water and bunkers. A little too mushy in places, most likely due to overwatering. As a "super senior" (71) who doesn't hit the ball a country mile, another set of tees would be most welcome. Staff very friendly and accommodating. No GPS on carts. Food and service in dining room very good. Pro shop small, but appeared to have all the necessities. Will play again when in the area.
The Pointe Golf Course
Played On 07/03/2014Interesting Course
First time playing course and it was it very nice shape. We found the greens to be a little inconsistent in speed, with lots of undulations. Bermuda rough is deep and can be difficult to find ball at times. Lots of bunkers, elevated tees and uphill shots to green. #9 and #18 are real bears if played from the black or blue tees, over water to an elevated narrow fairway. From the white tee, very short holes. Enjoyed the round and would play again if in the Branson area.
Got sucked into paying GolfNow rate of $39 after 3PM when the regular rate is $39. Live and learn!
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2013Lots of Fun!
Interesting course in great condition. Played from senior tees at approx. 5300 yds and is a fair test for short hitters. Some greens have severe (in my opinion) contours in them, so placing the ball on the green in the correct area is critical. Still, lots of fun to play. GPS on the cart is extremely helpful, as is the tip for playing each hole available on the GPS. No starter or ranger on the day we played, so pace of play was rather slow, as resort golf can sometimes be. Will most likely play again next year!
Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 10/26/2013Nice Layout with Large Greens
Played this course AFTER greens had been over seeded but prior to being mowed. Coming up short (or long) on some of the large greens proved to be a putting challenge! Fairways in decent shape, not much water comes into play, but a LOT of sand does come into play.
This course would benefit from at least two additional sets of tees, esp for us older, shorter hitters. I would play the women's tee if my wife were not playing with us!
Very accommodating and friendly staff and a fairly well stocked pro shop. Will most likely play again next year when we return to Fla.
Stone Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2013A Must Play in Ocala
With six sets of tees, this pristine course has something for every golfer. The course was recently over seeded and is quite lush. Fairways are wide and were cut a little longer than normal which made the ball sit up quite nicely, although, not much roll was to be had. Greens were moderately fast and putted very nice. Quality shots into the greens were rewarded. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Lots of water is seen around the course, however, it seldom comes into play.
The Stone Creek Grill is also a very good place for lunch or a cold one, golfers choice! My only complaint was that the pro shop closed before we completed our round around 5:45 and I didn't have a chance to look through the sale rack! Will definitely play again when in Ocala.
The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 10/31/2012Decent course, but needs some work on the greens.
Recently reseeded, cart path only. Fairways decent, but greens were like putting on shag carpet-slow and bumpy. Many ball marks NOT repaired. No course marshall or beverage cart.
Remington Golf Club
Played On 10/5/2012Lots of water, but very playable
Course has lots of water, wide fairways and greens that roll smooth and true. Some areas around greens were a little soft (overwatering?) and good shots came up short. Pin placement generally good except for one hole where cup was cut right on a crown making it a little unfair. Will definately play again!
