Esplanade Golf & Country Club at Lakewood Ranch
Played On 10/06/2014Fun but fairly easy for low handicap
Nice course with excellent landscaping. Feels remote now as most houses aren't built yet. Greens hard as a rock so 3-4 times I hit greens with wedge and still rolled or bounced long. Greens running at least 10 and fairly true. Not long - only 6,700 from back and fairways pretty wide open except 9, 14 and 16. Needs additional bunkering in landing areas to provide definition and challenge for better players.
Range balls included and nice practice area. Clubhouse not built but temporary building decent.

Played On 09/27/2014Rough conditioning. Slow. Bizarre greens.
Course conditions are quite rough - fairways and tee boxes patchy. Greens condition okay but a joke with the undulations - like a putt putt golf course. Slow play likely a combination of water, blind shots, difficult greens and high handicappers. Twosome I was paired with each downed a 12-pack, often took 8-10 shots per hole with mulligans and amazingly when we'd finish the hole we'd still have to wait.

Played On 07/18/2014Just punched greens/fairways
Usually a fun course. I should have called ahead. They just punched greens and probably not real playable for at least a week. They've had a lot of rain so cart path only and range closed.

Excellent, interesting course. Greens are extremely smooth even though they were apparently punched 3 weeks earlier. Somewhat tight but not overly long - 6300 yds from white tees. 5th hole scenic and very challenging with water all on left, huge bunkers, sloped green and about 420 yards.
