Warkworth Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2017A true links hidden gem
We played Warkworth on the last day of our golf holiday, and what a course to finish! We started early, greeted by the greenkeeper who was so kind to lend us a trolley (thanks again!). We played the 9 holes twice and enjoyed the beautiful setting of the holes surrounded by dunes and the marvelous greens. At the 18th green we were welcomed by two members of Warkworth, very keen to know how we felt about their course, so we had a nice chat. We were a bit early for lunch, but next year we will definitely be back. Thank you Warkworth, for a wonderful day!
Craigielaw Golf Club
Played On 05/17/2017Avoid this course, unless you get paid to play
Due to the very poor maintenance levels of tees, fairways and greens this course is to be avoided. More divots than I could imagine, greens terrible slow.
Course is short by nature, and if the white markers are placed at the blue tees, as they were when we played, it is WAY to short.
Total waist of time and money.
Nice guys in the shop and at the bar, but we came to play golf, not to drink beer.
10 & 19 at University Park Country Club
Played On 12/02/2014Not worth your money
University is a nice course, we played 1-9 and 10-18. They keep up a nice upstandard profile, the maintance is good, but the course layout is not really thrilling, it is actually nothing more than a simple parkcourse.
Given the price, I expected a much better design and much better maintenance.
Having stiff upperlip staff in your proshop, does not mean you a good golfcourse; it gives me the feeling they want to be something that they are not: a top-notch golfcourse.
So they might be doing a good marketing job, but i will spend my dollars somewhere else.
Halfway house and bar were closed (?????), so i cannot rate f&b.
Misty Creek Country Club
Played On 12/01/2014Where is the ranger on the back nine?
Nice staff. Tees ok, fairways sort of ok, greens seems to have some problem areas, but are fairly quick.
So why did I like it? The course design is great. You need to think about position with almost almost every shot. Fairways are narrow and trees will block bad positioned shots.
I/ll come back.
I understood greens will have big overhaul next season.
Pace was good on the first nine, but went down during second nine. Maybe a ranger on the second nine would have helped.
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 11/30/2014Something different
Nice lay-out, nice setting. Nobody on the course, so we could play our own pace. Good challenging par3/s and some nice risk/reward decisions to be made on the par 4/s.
Fairways a bit wet, but i understood from the staff that they had some rain lately.
Super friendly staff, we will return later in the week to play again.
Juliette Falls
Played On 11/28/2014One of our favorites
We stayed at Inverness for the second time and returned to Juliette Falls, since we liked it to much. The course was as nice as we expected! It is not the typical easy layout with lush fairways you het on some resort lay-outs: Every hole at JF is different, not extremely difficult, but all with their own challenge. Fairways maybe a bit on the hard side, green undulating and fast enough.
Since it was busy, the pace was a bit slow and that is a pity: on the back nine you tend to start to lose concentration and those are the best holes of the course. Together with World Woods this course make my top3 when I/m in Inverness. It is worth the drive.
