Westwood Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2018Lack of rain is showing
I’ve played here 3 times this year. The course is showing it’s summer time blues with burn spots in the fairways and a few greens. That’s said over all the place is in pretty good condition. The greens are better than the fairways. Went around the front in under 2 hours, but the back, ugg, we waited on every tee. They need to get somebody out there, 2.5 hours for 9 holes on a Tuesday afternoon is not good.
Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course
Played On 01/03/2018Not what it seems
Odd place. Some of the holes don't fit with the others. I've played the other Disney courses and some of the holes here have the same feel. The other half looked like my back yard. So half the holes are like a real course half are featureless straight always to warm up on.
Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Country Club
Played On 07/25/2017Short and tight
Greens were in good condition, as were the mostly narrow fairways. The course is on the short side, but the distance between the trees sorta makes up for it. We had 6 inches of rain in the 2 days prior and the fairways seemed to absorb all of it. Not wet spots or very few. Can't see it as my regular track, but it fun to play once in a while. Finished with a satisfactory lunch in the bar. Will go back.
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Played On 07/21/2017If you were standing on a sponge.....
We played on a day where then region was experiencing normal summertime weather (daily T-storms). There was zero roll and at times I had problems getting a lie that was not in casual water. The place is built on a swap and you can tell. That said it's a really neat layout, you have to fly the ball on the green, zero bump and runs at this track. To make things worse, we got lightninged out after 9 holes. Golf now gave us half our dough back which was fair. We will be going back next time we are in the area. And a PS, get the gourmet natchos at the club house bar, after you stop laughing at the chip count, you'll agree they are very good.
Pomona Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/30/2016Not as easy as the numbers make it seam
Good value, great place to introduce someone to the game, but it's not a push over. Small greens and tight fairways force you to make accurate shots. Greens are small (OK) but very slow (not OK). Staff is friendly and lunch was very good. I'll be back.
Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2014What I expected
Fun track. Wide fairways and they need to be as if you stray from them good luck finding your ball. Greens were the best part. Fast but fair and would receive a well struck ball.
Cart guy was friendly, pro shop staff were not. Lack of food after the round takes away from the day, but not the course.
Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis
Played On 06/21/2014Could be so much more
You can tell this was a privet course at one time, it's not a muni or county layout with the bunker protected aproach shots. But it's back to reality when you start to put on the painfully slow green. This place could be a gem but it is rather lack lister with the Velcro putting surfaces.
Still a good deal @ the $25 I paid, but would be happy to pay 2x for real greens.
Harbor Pines Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2014Enjoyable day
Place is in good shape for spring. Fun course that I hope to play again soon.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 03/30/2014Enjoyed myself
I want to go back. 48 bucks for 18 on a Sunday and that included range balls. Course was only a 15 minute cab ride from the southpoint ( where I was staying) and was the course I was looking to play when checking google maps for places to play.
Wide landing areas off the tee with challenging green complexes made for a really fun day.
Can't smell the grass but....
Played last Wednesday, 2 of us, one (me) computer literate, him not so much. I play some golf on a PC and use some virtual programs in my job so the transition was easy for me. Tee balls and approach shots are not really different than when you can smell the real grass, chipping and putting are different but not to the point where I was affected. My playing partner was not feeling the love. I blew up a few holes from getting used to chipping on the simulator but over all if was a pretty good reflection of my real game. Most shots where showing a distance that was true to my real course distances. I did hit one 4 hybrid that went 265 on the screen, that's a 190 club in real life for me but I only had 1 or 2 shots in the 18 that had me scratching my head.
The owner was easy to deal with and gave you enough instruction on how to use the PC without being over bearing. But you do need help to get started, but it's pretty self explanatory are you play.
The most enjoyable thing for me was hitting a ball in short sleeves, been playing when passable this winter and that means 3 layers. The freedom of swinging in a warm room can't be beat IMO, I'd recommend the place and I will be going back.
Worth a try
2 of us went yesterday, I really liked it my playing partner not as much. I'm computer literate and play some golf on an iPad so playing on a PC is comfortable to me. Off the tee is like real golf, approach shots are like real golf. I found most of my distances very realistic for the previously mentioned but chipping and putting were hard, it will be easier next time but it was not the same as hitting full shots. The owner was very attentive and seems to give you the help to get started without giving you too much info too quick. Was really nice to swing a golf club in a short sleeve shirt without getting on an airplane, I'll be going back.
LBI National Golf & Resort
Played On 8/25/2013Good but could be better
It's a nice layout, fairways are cut tight and greens are fast but fair. But for a course that has many bunkers you would think they could maintain them. I don't mind spending close to a hundred bucks for a round of golf especially on a Sunday in the summer, and I have reasonable expectations. But for that kind of money I expect all elements of the course to be paid attention too. I had a good round going and will blame a bunker with a trench running through it from rain that was not raked and left my ball up against the sod in an unplayable position that lead to a double, I expect that for 50 bucks, not a hundred. I'd say 3.5 stars if it was an option.
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 8/19/2013I really like this place
Fun to play a place you can watch the pros play on TV. This course is in the best shape of any NJ track I've played in the last 6 to 8 weeks.
Pitman Golf Course
Played On 8/07/2013What happened to the fairways?
I played here about 6 weeks ago for the first time in over 15 years. I found tall ruff and lush fairways, a big improvement over the cow pasture I remember form the early to mid 90's. Yesterday if saw fairways that were riddled with weeds, and short ruff. The place is still light years ahead of years ago, but not in the condition I saw in June. Greens are very good though.
Value wise I liked yesterday's round much better, 14 bucks with the app vs 50 each we paid to play on a Monday at about noon. 50 for this course was too much, but I well return, just not for $50.
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 8/2/2013Nice course
Long holes have open approaches, short holes have challenging greens and are pretty well guarded. Greens were fast but fair, but have to leave the ball under the hole or a 3 putt is very easy to make.
Cedar Creek Golf Course
Played On 8/1/2013Lots of weeds
Greens were beyond fuzzy. The course I played on Friday had fairways that were nicer than the greens at CC

The design of the Oak Trail course is such that it is suitable for more novice golfers, and those with young family so that they may navigate through the course more easily, and therefore the holes are somewhat shorter and the hazards not quite as challenging as our championship courses.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us!
