Beautiful Day

This course is great if you can hit the ball where you are aiming. Don't get me wrong, it's a fair course if you pull the right club. I really like this course because it makes you think about each and every shot. You won't just hit driver/ 8 iron or driver/wedge on this course. Well there are about 3 holes you can do that and there are some drivable but if your offline...too bad so sad. This course is built in and around a nature preserve so it's woods city. But that's one of the reasons I like it.
The course tee to green was in great shape or as good a shape as it could be for this time of year. The greens rolled true and were harder and faster then the last time I played here only a couple of weeks ago. You have to really be careful with your speed or three puts will be the norm. I really like this course and recommend giving it a go, as they say in Europe.

I'll be back.

This course is typical of a course built within a housing community in the middle of a nature preserve. There isn't much forgiveness for offline shots as most holes are bordered by the natural Florida plant life and water. I will want to play it again simply because now that I've played it once I have a better feel for where to place the ball. The course played soft and there was plenty of moisture in the dirt just below the grass. The grass on the fairways was somewhat thin so tight lies were common. The greens were in good shape and rolling moderately fast. Nothing too crazy but not slow. The bunkers had real white sand in them. Not grey dirt like some courses. The carts were in good shape and clean. I enjoyed the round and think you should give it a try.

Worth a try.

I did ok but not great when I played this course simply because I wasn't familiar with the layout. It's a shortish par 65 but it has a lot of dog legs that have short distances to the dog leg with a longer shot to the green. A properly placed tee shot is a must. I kept hitting it through the end of the dog leg with my tee shot and into the woods.
The course is built in a nature preserve so most of the shots require accuracy due to wetlands and woods on both sides. Also you have to navigate the neighborhood and drive down some of the streets because the course is spread out throughout the wetland preserve. I believe that one would need to play this course a few times to learn it's nuances. It would then be easier to score. It's is a pretty course and well worth a try. I will be playing it again just to see if I can improve my score there.
The staff was friendly and the carts were nice however we didn't try their inside food and beverage so I can't report on that. I recommend giving this course a try.

Nice course

This course if fun to play. My hats off to the Superintendent for having the greens in such beautiful shape. They were smooth and rolled true however they weren't as fast as they looked. But they were very nice just the same. Some of the cart paths could use some attention. I don't mind cinder or limestone or even dirt cart paths but a lot of these were pretty bumpy so you had to take your time going over the rough patches. Other than that we had a great time overall. FYI they will ask for an additional fee if you want your own cart so you can social distance. I have a problem paying an extra fee for not wanting to ride with someone that I don't live with. Especially since we're under a county wide social distancing mandate. However their fee was lower than most courses that do this and it was for each 2some and not per person so if your playing partner will split it with you then its not so bad. Even if they don't it's worth the added safety and we play faster with separate carts as well. I would recommend giving this course a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Interesting place!

This clubhouse is right in the middle of an over 55 and RV community but once you're out on the course it's all woods until you get back around to start the back nine then it's woods again. There are 3 nine hole courses here and you'll play 2 of them to make up an 18 hole round. Either the Gator-Panther, the Gator-Bobcat, or the Panther-Bobcat. I've always played the Gator-something, and can't remember ever playing the Panther-Bobcat together. Not sure why.
The greens were outstanding today. They were pretty fast and very smooth. A few of the tee boxes had some thin grass issues but for the most part the tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. The course was a little soft and we had several balls plug on the Gator course which was our front nine. The Panther course was firmer and we didn't have any problems there unless we got near the water hazards.
Silver Dollar is also known for their Trap & Skeet Club across the street from the course so if the sound of shotguns blasting away at clay targets bothers you then this might not be the place for you. It usually isn't bad, and some day's not at all but today there were a few shooters enjoying the weather. To be fair it's only on the part of the course that's by the road that you can really hear the shooting. There's no danger of getting shot because the Trap range faces away from the course. So don't let that deter you.
The course is pretty wide open but there are a few challenging holes that require precise shots to prevent a high score. Overall I like this course. They have new carts which are very nice and the Pro Shop and Restaurant is nice too. There's plenty of room to social distance. To me the only knock against this course is they will charge you $10 extra per person for separate carts if you want to social distance. Most courses I play at only charge 1 ten dollar fee to split carts. Just about all courses are doing this now and I don't agree with it especially if we are under a mandate to social distance. To me it's like gouging but that's just my opinion and you may feel differently about it. I would still recommend this course regardless.

Good fun.

Pace of play was excellent. We really didn't catch anyone until the last two holes. The groups were spaced out nicely. The course conditions were excellent. A little wet for my liking but I think there was some rain the day before maybe. The greens were rolling true and fast. They looked bumpy but they weren't. It was easy to let a put get away from you if not careful. There's a lot of water on this course but only comes into play on the worse shots. I only lost one ball and that was because I hit it through the fairway long into a water hazard. The only down side and this is just a personal observation. They charge an extra $10 if you want your own cart. I don't know how they expect people to social distance with 2 people to a cart unless you live with that person. I don't live with any of my golfing buddies. Overall it was still an enjoyable round and I will play here again. I recommend it.

Like an old friend.

Playing The Babe is like seeing an old friend that you haven't seen in a while. You pretty much know what to expect. A fresh haircut, a smile, and an untucked shirt.
There's nothing tricked up about this course. It's pretty straight forward with just enough dog legs and elevated greens to keep it interesting. The greens rolled really well in spite of a few weeds here and there. Not bad enough to even mention really. Fairways all had grass on them except for a few spots, again not a big deal. For the money I think it's an enjoyable 4 hours spent with friends and a good value. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They were doing all of the Corona protocol and I felt safe there. I had forgotten my golf GPS in the cart and when I called them about it they said that they had it in the pro shop for me. I turned around and went back to get it and thanked them. That impressed me. The only negative was the brakes on 2 of our carts wouldn't lock. They would stop you but you had to be careful how you parked or your cart would roll a little. Still not a deal breaker. Four solid stars.
