Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
Played On 05/12/2022I visit and play The Lakes a couple of times each year, staying at the nearby park campground. It’s a nice , fun curse. Not as lush this year due to very dry conditions. I understand the greens were regrassed recently and they were very firm and the grass is a bit thin. Hopefully, they will grow in nicely as we get into the summer rainy season.
Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
Played On 09/18/2022Fun course. Rough is mean as you would expect from late summer Bermuda. Greens are excellent but very firm making approach shots challenging. Beautiful setting in a wooded state park, but have mosquito repellent in your bag. Nice little pro shop, but no restaurant, bar or drink cart, it is a state park.
LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 06/10/2021Played in the afternoon. Never saw a ranger but pace was ok. Played in 4 hours. Course in good shape. Greens had been recently sanded and didn’t look great but rolled nicely and were fast enough to require care on downhill puts. Definitely best course in the area for the money.
Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2018Visually interesting and intimidating. Shot making is a premium. for first time players, deciding where to put your tee shot can be tough. Great change of pace for those tired of flat courses. Fairways were in ok shape considering the below average temps and dry conditions this winter. Greens were overseeded and lush to the point of being shaggy and painfully slow. Our foursome played on Tuesday afternoon and took 5 hours, waited ever shot. To be fair, the course was booked up, but a good marshal surely could have sped things up a bit.
