Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2021It really was bad. :(
I play a lot of golf all over the country as a pilot, and the reviews and rates here are way off. The greens were a plinko game and super slow. Tee boxes look like my back yard. Fairways were bare/dormant. This time of year in Florida it’s not hard to have grass to play on.
I understand busy days and season but we got the first tee time so we could zip around and get out. They sent us off the back. Which meant when we made the turn in an hour and a half (which is what a normal round SHOULD be) we landed behind 3 groups on the first tee... we left.
I’ve discovered that the greaterJacksonville area only has 3 Public venues (2 courses each) worth playing: TPC Sawgrass, World Golf Village, Amelia Island.
Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 02/22/2021I'll be back
I've played every course on the island. Yes. Frederica is special, Ocean Forest is hard, Sea Island are some of the best resort courses there are... But...
Sea Palms was much better than I expected. The renovation has done it well. First and most important, the greens were fast and true. The layout is interesting enough, challenging enough, but not stupid hard. Fairways were green just almost full. Maybe a week or two. Of course they were getting ready for a Mini tour event which explains why everything was in order.
King and Price used to be my go to on the island when not playing the private courses or staying at Sea Island. I think it's Sea Palms now.
The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
Played On 05/02/2020Interesting / Great Shape
I really enjoyed this course. I’m a single digit handicap and get the opportunity to play very course on the island, including Frederica and Ocean Forrest. I was super pleased. Yes it’s a public course but it was very pretty and in great shape. Greens rolled true and probably 10-11 speed.
Now, the advertised picture is a bit color saturated in a photo editor, LOL but it’s really close to that in person.
We did have to start on 10 for whatever reason and that was a bit of a bummer because the prettiest holes are 12-15. But we still enjoyed all 18 twice.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2019Fantastic
I play a ton of golf. 6 handicap. I’m fortunately enough to play a lot of bucket list courses and exclusive courses. All that to say, this place stands up. Loved it. Super interesting. Conditions are perfect. Greens are pure and fast enough. (probably 10 that day) I loves the layout. It was interesting, challenging but not stupid, scenic. There are tee boxes for every level and the course completely changes from one to the next.
Hi jdcase, thank you for your kind words! We are thrilled with your review and recommendation of us! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing UNC Finley Golf Course.
Championship Course at Crosswinds Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2018I’d go again
The course presents well. It was interesting enough and the greens were in good shape. Course was mostly green with some brown which is better than I’ve been seeing this time of year as a pilot who plays all over the country. I’m a 7 handicap and it was very enjoyable. The greens were fast enough to enjoy but not lightning fast. The guys I played with told me they do get really fast during the peak season. Hopefully I make it back to this area when they get that way.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
