Been here several times. Some tees and greens need over seeding but otherwise in pretty good shape.
Kings Ridge Golf Club - Kings Course
Played On 07/14/2020First time playing here Was told by someone that “I would like the course”. I did not. Didn’t hate it. Loved the layout. Fairways had lots of bare places, same with a lot of Tees. Greens were unbelievably slow. I felt like I was hitting of dirt most of the day. Best fairway was the 18th. We were told that the overseeding “didn’t take”. Maybe if the conditions improved I’d try it again. In its present condition I would not recommend it for the price. If conditions improve would definitely recommend.
Deer Island Country Club
Played On 10/23/2018Great course that doesn’t get much play
Went to this course on 10/23. First time back in a few years. Read a lot of reviews and a lot of them were not good. This wasn’t what I remembered at Deer Island. They were doing over seeding. The only place I saw it was on the tees. They also had a sign saying this clearly on display. This was much appreciated as almost all courses don’t and wont saying anything unless you ask, and usually after you pay. On the first tee the ranger met us and again told us about the overseeding. He asked us if we had ever been there offering advice about the course.
The tees were in good shape. Fairways were in really good shape. Greens had weeds but were cut close enough so it had ZERO impact on speed or how it took the break. In the rough it was clear that a lot of work had been done. Really don’t like playing where the rough is 6”+ deep. This rough was at a depth that was very manageable. Some of the reviews stated that the staff was not friendly. I did not encounter this at all. Every staff member we came in contact with could not have been more friendly. The bunkers need to be edged but other than that were in decent shape. A downside was that the clubhouse only had hot dogs which is a shame, but understand that it may not be financially feasible considering it does not get the play of other courses.
Hopefully more people will find this course and play it as the layout is challenging with water on every hole. When they get rid of the weeds on the greens, and they are working on it, this wil be a great course. I only paid $20 to play and people need to realize that for that money your not going to be playing at Bay Hill. Management is working on the weeds and given time it will be like I remembered it as. I plan to play it again and we are making plans to return.
Stoneybrook East Golf Course
Played On 10/03/2018Average
Pace of play was good. Almost all tees were dirt. Front nine had weeds throughout fairways. Back nine was bettter as far as fairways. Disappointed as I played S. West and it was in much better shape. Also west clubhouse was staffed and bar open. The bar here was closed and menu was limited to two choices. Would go back to West but don’t think Ill come back here.
The Country Club of Mount Dora
Played On 08/01/2018Need a little work
Condition were very goood EXCEPT tee boxes and greens were need work. Large areas of dead grass/dirt. A shame as I really lie playing this course. Fairways were in good shape. Bunkers were hard. Should be groomed in the morning as we have been getting a lot of rain daily
Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2017Great links style course
This was my 2nd time playing here, the first about 5 yrs ago, though I always come here to use the driving range. From Tee to Green the course was in great shape which is remarkable considering the lack of rain this year. Hats off to the course workers. I was told when I checked in the speed of the greens was about 9 1/2 on the stimpmeter. He wasn't kidding. I love fast greens though not necessarily a links style course. Just my personal preference. But the fast greens is what will bring me back as the friendliness of the staff. If you want a course that is in great shape with fast greens then this is your place. If I could make one suggestion to really make it special, build a clubhouse. In the meantime maybe expand your menu a little. Not everyone like a burger or hot dog.
Zellwood Station & Country Club
Played On 06/03/2017Good course
First time playing here. I did not expect the length of some of the holes being a Community course but was pleasantly surprised. Course had some bare areas mostly outside of the fairways but overall course was in very good shape, considering the drought we've been going through. Greens were in really good shape, a little slow and needed to be cut but I assume they were probably keeping them a litttle long because of the drought. Tees were in good shape, not great but good. I definitely plan to go back. Everyone I came in contact with was very friendly both employees and golfers. In short if you want a good course that is both competitive and a pleasant experience this is the course for you.
The Country Club of Mount Dora
Played On 10/24/2016Really nice course
Well worth the money. Been wanting to play this course for a long time. Tees need some work with over seeding. Fairways we're in good shape. Greens were hard but held when hitting into them. Speed of greens were lightening fast. Probably a 10 or 11. Just the way i like them. I will definately play this course again.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for an even better 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Zellwood Station & Country Club.
