The Tradition Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2020Fall Golf
The course was in good shape, conditions were wet so path only, but not a lot of people on the course so the pace was good. The staff has done a great job of bringing the greens back after some trouble a few years ago.
Sunset Hills Golf Course - Old Course
Played On 11/04/2020Greens are in great condition
I have played here a fair amount, and right now the greens are in the best shape I have ever seen them. The course still has some drainage issues, but it's in great shape.
Larkhaven Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2018Larkhaven 5/24/18
This course has had to deal with the City putting a sewer line in through the middle of the course. Construction is finally over, and they have put sod down in the areas that were torn up by construction. It's still Ground Under Repair so free drops if you hit it in the sod. The fairway isn't great, there are some bare spots. The greens are awesome though. They are fast but roll true, and give a difficult challenge every time I play here. For $20 on the weekday, you won't find a course with a better value for how good these greens are.

Best greens in Charlotte for a public course! I played here several times during the summer and Larkhaven always has great greens. Unfortunately there is some construction going on right now and they have had to alter some holes. Honestly it doesn't affect play too much. #9 tee is like 50 yards from the green (but it was a par 3 anyway), #10 the fairway is a little obstructed (but it doesn't affect play), #12 the tee is moved up, and #18 is now a par 3. All other holes are not effected. Also because of the construction the rate is $20 on the weekdays. I played in under 4 hours. The fairways are dormant and beat down in some places, but I can deal with that for those sweet smooth rolling greens. Staff was very friendly, I will be back.
The Club at Irish Creek
Played On 09/20/2017Irish Creek 9/20/2017
Club at Irish Creek is one of my favorite courses in the area. I have never experienced poor conditions playing this course. Tees and Fairways are nice and grown in. Bunkers have a good amount of sand, there are a few pebbles in them though. The greens are in good shape, they have a few spots where the greens burnt out, but very few. People could fix their ball marks better. Other than that the course was in perfect shape. You can't ask for much more.
Charlotte National Golf Course
Played On 08/30/2017Charlotte National 8-30
Charlotte National is a good value for the money. The fairways and tees are very nice. The rough was a little high and made it difficult you find your ball even when you kept an eye on it. The greens were a little hit or miss, they got hurt a little by the summer heat, and it looks like they punched recently. That being said I thought they rolled really well and held incoming shots. With the cooler weather coming in the greens should heal up nicely. The bunkers could use some work.
Highland Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2017Highland Creek 8-26-17
This course has a really nice layout. When the greens are rolling fast and the course is in good shape, Highland Creek is one of the premier courses in Charlotte. Unfortunately it is not in good condition. The greens have a lot of invasive grass. They are burnt out and bumpy. The rough is 6-10 inches deep in some spots, and my group spent a lot of time looking for balls just off the fairway. The fairway is in good condition, the tee boxes are in fair condition. Surprisingly a lot of brown on the tee boxes. Bunkers need help. It's worth maybe $20 a round here just to practice your ball striking, but the greens are too beat for putting to be meaningful.
Emerald Lake Golf Club
Played On 08/09/2017Emerald Lake 8-9
This course is in really good shape right now. The greens are some of the best I have played on in a while. They hold incoming shots well and they putt true. The only real problem with them is people not fixing ball marks properly, which seems to be an epidemic in Charlotte. Fairways and tee boxes are nice and filled in. The only complaints I have about my round is some of the bunkers were a little washed out. Also I played after 4, there was no starter, groups were stacked up at the first tee, and it was a free for all. Pace of play could have been better.

Played here with an online deal, and the value is good for the course. The turf is nice and grown in. The bunkers are in good shape, but the sand is a little thin in some areas. The layout is nice with some short holes, and nice undulation. The greens are in ok shape, I know they put in new greens a few years ago, but they were looking a little brown in spots. It looks like they verticut not too long ago. The ball rolled well though, no complaints about how they played. Firm and fast. They have a nice grill. No driving range.
Charles T. Myers Public Golf Course
Played On 07/27/2017Charles T. Myers 7/27/17
I want to give the course 4 stars because the staff has done a great job maintaining the turf and not letting the greens get burnt out. I have to give it 3 though because some of the greens are half bermuda half bent and the tee boxes are still sloped. There are still some bare spots in the fairways, and #6 has a drainage problem in the fairway. This course has really improved in the past few years, so if it's been a while give them another try, but don't expect perfect conditions.
The Tradition Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2017The Tradition 7-25
I play here a lot. The turf here is in great shape, tees and fairways are very healthy. Bunkers are in decent shape. Over the past month the greens have been hurt by the heat. There are some bare spots on the greens. That being said, they still roll ok and by no means is the course unplayable. If you want perfect greens though I would suggest playing somewhere else.

The course is in really nice condition. The layout is great. There was a little brown patch creeping in on one of the greens, but for the most part they roll great. They biggest problem with the greens around here is people not fixing their ball marks.
