Skybrook Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2015Good Value for $35-40
It was great course for the price. There are several greens that need a lot of TLC. Would not deter me from going back as long as I were to see improvement. The rough was cut as opposed to the last time that I played here. It was much more of an appropriate height.
Charleston National Golf Club
Played On 9/6/2013A little pricey, but, a good course
Had a great time at this course. We were there for a good friends bachelor party. Fairways were in good shape. Greens were in good shape. Enjoyed the round.
Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
Played On 9/1/2013Awesome Course, Just a Little Pricey
I play at Rocky River about once a month. It is a well maintained course and a lot of fun to play. The only downside is that they let the natural areas get way too tall before they cut them. There are certain areas where a ball is 10 yards off the fairway and you lose it. Overall, great place.
Warrior Golf Club
Played On 8/15/2013Worthwhile Golfing Experience
Warrior is a great value for a sub $40 course. The fairways are a little more narrow than I would like. There are a couple that are way too narrow for amateurs like myself. I usually hit around 65% of my fairways and only hit 46% at this course. That being said, my misses were within 10 yards. The rough was not super challenging though. It's bark was much worse than it's bite. I was able to come out clean on every shot without clubbing up. I give four stars instead of 5 because of the softness of the greens and the tee box on number 7. My shots were leaving huge ballmarks, the kind that might not repair very well. I did what I could, but over the long term could lead to damage. The black and blue tee boxes on number 7 are astroturf, not sure what is going on there. We teed up on the whites on that hole and used an iron to compensate instead of driver. Overall, very fun course that has challenges but very playable as well.
Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Played On 8/4/2013Good, not great course
I have played Olde Sycamore several times. This past time, I was not impressed with the quality of the greens. There were lots and lots of ball marks. Also, weeds were starting to creep in. The fairways were in good condition. I, personally, do not like the layout on the front nine. Lots of clubs other than driver off of the tee.
Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/28/2013Great Course for the Money
I have played at Red Bridge quite a bit in the last year. I find it to be one of the best values within an hour radius. The course has been traditionally well maintained. Right now the greens have been aerated, but that has to be done. Book early in the day if you like to play fast. Playing after 10 o'clock is going to be every bit of a 4:15 to 4:30 round.
Barefoot Resort & Golf - Dye Course
Played On 7/24/2013Lots of Sand!
This course is great! While I was at the beach, I received an email that it won Myrtle Beach course of the year. I see why. This is a typical Dye course. Some parts of the course are very deceiving. They do have an amazingly accurate in-cart GPS system, trust it. If you hit it straight and accurate it is not very tough. However, if you get errant off the tee, it could be a long hole and day.
Tradition Golf Club
Played On 7/23/2013Great Beach Course
This is a wonderful course. It is very well maintained. The greens have a little bit of burn in them, but it did not affect play. It is a challenging course, but not overly so. I shot a new record for myself, 79.
