Played on a Monday in the early afternoon as a single. Pace was excellent as I finished in just under 3h. Fairways in fine shape, greens well maintained, if unimaginative. Bunkers are hard-packed sand, not great, but not atypical of muni's. Probably the only negative comment on the course. Big difference in yardage between blue and silver so you can play a nice easy round or make it a bit more difficult! Carts were clean and worked fine, snack bar/restaurant was nice. I'll come back.

Conditions were great. Pace slowed down on the back 9 and we weren’t able to finish 18 in 3-1/2 hr so we got called in for darkness. Oh well, definitely will be back!

I've always liked the layout and condition of this course but did not appreciate a 5-1/2 -6 (yes 6) hour round. Maybe due to T'giving week, but was able to get 9 holes in late in the day in just over 2 hours. Looks like some work is being done in the fairways so I won't ding for condition this time as I like to see improvements being made.

Especially if you walk, this course can wear you down. I’d love to see the bunkers get some TLC

I love this course but the greens were unacceptably slow. I think they were punched a couple weeks back; they should be running true by now.

I love this course. The greens could use some work as many were extremely bumpy and untamed. Other than that, a great day and a relative bargain for $59 on a holiday.

We started slowly and the weather was extremely uncooperative with 35mph wind gusts. At the turn things changed for the best. PROS: pace was good after a slow start and we finished in 4:15; greens impeccable; overall condition good despite the dry winter. CONS; following a 5-some that apparently were betting big money on their putts :-( spent too much time watching 5 guys putt; many water features were dried out due to the abysmal rain levels this winter; fairways a bit bare in spots. OVERALL: Will come and play again!

A wonderful gem that captures the feel of a true links style course. You must play it for your ball to run, especially on approach shots. Excellent condition but guessing it always struggles to deliver a sub 5 hr round as most choose to walk the course due to its flat topography

A pretty flat and uninteresting layout but well kept and the greens were in outstanding condition. I’d play again if I was in the area of Nicolaus but probably wouldn’t recommend making a special trip to check it out.

Course was a little shaggy after being shut down for a month due to covid restrictions. This is a great place to play a quick round but for some reason....probably due to everyone walking course....it was moving pretty slow on a Monday afternoon. I expect it will improve and will definitely continue to play here.

I was able to find an open course within an hour drive that I'll definitely revisit. Easily accessible about 8 minutes off of I-505, well maintained, quiet, and with a genuinely helpful and friendly staff.
PROS:
- distance was challenging off the blue tees (for a 55 yr. old, 10+ handicapper)
- well maintained, bunkers recently upgraded
- good value for the money
- friendly and welcoming (even during a pandemic !)
CONS:
- it's 9 holes, so you play 2x and you just kind of wait your turn in cue when you restart at 1
- water hazards were dry and/or stagnant

The course is tired and though it appears that some work is being done, a lot of investment would be necessary to make this a premium track. But tee times are easy to come by, the greens fees are reasonable and the layout is a fair challenge. Great on site restaurant and brewery too!

I don’t know what happened, but there is no grass left in any of the tee boxes. Years of cutting down the rough off the fairways have left the natural features of this course a mess, overrun by squirrels and woodchucks. It’s a shame and I hope there is a plan for some investment. On the plus side, the staff is wonderful and we did finish round in 3-1/2 hr

Its amazing there aren't more golfers on this course. While 12 of the holes are Par 3's, you will find each one a challenge. Beautiful layout, and excellent accommodations. This course is unique, picturesque, challenging, and accessible for all levels of player. Don't be fooled by the yardage...this is a must-play course in the Tri-Valley
