What Happened??

Played earlier today - 4th or 5th time since February - lay-out is fabulous but current conditions are very worrisome, especially for a course opened only 8 month ago - loads of bare patch on and around greens - condition of many of the fairways very poor, considering this should play well in hot weather - hard to justify the $120 rate for out of towners - hard to swallow as an Arlington resident, when all I hear from civic leaders is how Arlington is the sports capital of the nation - gonna get hurt patting yourselves on the back folks - pay attention to this potential gem as if Jerry Jones or Bob Simpson (owners of Cowboys & Rangers) were calling

Hidden Gem

Had heard some good things about this course so made my way over from St. Augustine area to give it a crack - anytime you can play a Donald Ross layout for $25 you gotta go - little rough around the edges, course not the condition you find many of the Florida courses this time of year but not terrible -small greens were mostly slow, probably from morning dew but did face some speedy down hill putts that had plenty of pace - good design of holes and par 3's were tough, especilly #3 - almost 190 uphill from blue tees - after playing most Florida courses with lots of water in play this course offered just a bit less stress - only complaint is one I have with many courses - trouble immediately in front of the red ( up front) tees - my wife is a relative beginner so she sometimes struggles getting the ball in the air - one of my pet beefs with designers is putting trouble - water - sand - etc right in front of those up tees and gobbling up shots of people who need all the encouragement & help they can get when first atking up the game - other than that a nice day & I would return
