Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2020Good experience.
Reasonable cost, good conditions, fast pace of play. Not really for the high handicapper, but a fair challenge for the average to better players.
Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 05/15/2020A Pleasant Round
The course was in nice shape, particularly the tee boxes and the fairways. Greens were a little spotty, but generally good. Pace of play was fast. Practice amenities were above average. Value for the round was excellent. The course is challenging because there are significant water hazards on virtually every hole...including several forced carries. Not for the high handicapper, but should be a lot of fun for most players.
Thank you so much for the excellent 5-stars! We hope to see you again soon!
Julington Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2020Can't recommend at this time
I used to play this course frequently. The folks are nice. The course design is interesting. The greens fees are reasonable. Unfortunately, at this time, the course is in very poor condition. The greens are bad and the fairways are very spotty. If the course conditions improve, I will be back...but it looks like it will take a while. Too bad.
Julington Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2019Good course in rough condition
I play this course frequently. I like the layout and the price is reasonable. Unfortunately as of today, the course is in poor condition. The overseeding has not worked well. The tees are poorly kept and unsightly. The greens are patchy and the sand traps are not acceptable. The course is fine for a friendly golf round but you will be disappointed in the overall condition. If you have never played here before, as an FYI, the course is unwalkable.
Windy Harbor Golf Club
Played On 12/19/2019Good Course, but a bit tough to get to
Windy Harbor is on Mayport Naval Station property. You cannot get to the course unless you have base pass (or a military ID) which you have to apply for and takes a week or so to get. Further, you have to wait in line at the gate to go through security which can be a lengthy wait during the morning rush. That being said, the course is usually in great condition and the pace of play is pretty quick. Cost is affordable and there is a great 19th hole. The course itself is very playable, but no holes are particularly memorable. It is worth a play.
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 11/30/2018If you are patient, it is worth the money
Positives: Nice layout, usually in good condition. Competitive pricing. Nice practice area. Staff is friendly.
Negatives: Pace of play can be poor. Expect a 4.5 to 5 hour round. Late morning tee times can be delayed on M, W, F because of a large men's group that plays regularly. Traffic leaving the course toward 295 is very bad and will cause delays of 10-15 minutes because of heavy congestion
Quail Ridge Golf Course
Played On 10/07/2015Typical Public Course
Quail Ridge at one time was one of the best public courses in the Memphis area. It has a nice layout that has varied and interesting holes. However it appears that Quail is now focusing on driving round volume and cutting costs. Greens fee discounts are readily available and makes the price easy on the wallet. The greens are in good shape and relatively fast. Unfortunately, the rest of the course is in mediocre condition. There is little attention to detail and the fairways and tee boxes are spotty. Quail gets a large percentage of high handicappers and 5 hour rounds are not uncommon with no ranger help. The driving range is unacceptable because it is now mats only and the mats are VERY poor. Not worth spending your money on a bucket here. Quail is OK, but there are now better options available.
Mirimichi Golf Course
Played On 09/24/2015Best Public Course in Memphis
I love Mirimichi. Excellent clubhouse with nice amenities and good food. The practice area is the best in the city. The course is always in great condition with very quick greens. The front nine is a little back and forth, but the back nine is interesting with a lot of elevation changes. Very challenging from the gold tees and back. The price for seniors before 11 during the week is only $30 including cart. This is my regular course and certainly the best public course within 50 miles.
Thank you for the excellent 5-stars!
