Anaheim Hills is set among hilly canyons. This course requires you to think about each shot, some of the par 5’s are fairly short and not necessarily driver off the tee, downhill par 3’s require a slope adjusting range finder or good judgement to decide what club to hit. The elevation change on most holes is quite dramatic requiring shots from elevated tees or steeply uphill approach shots and I don’t recall having a level lie all day. Some holes have beautiful vistas overlooking the course. On the day I played the greens were lightning quick and in excellent condition and given some of the sloping were very challenging. The condition of the fairways need some work, the grass is a bit patchy or non-existent in places. If I were playing again I would agree with my playing partners up front to play preferred lies. I personally wouldn’t want to play this course every week, but it’s a good change of pace to keep in your course rotation.

A short, fun layout with plenty of challenges to work on your short game. The smallest and most undulating greens I’ve ever putted. According to my Arccos stats my putting is about a +2 level and I 3 putted 3 times. Can’t wait to play this course again, it was too much fun and challenging for its short length.

Played Sunday afternoon on a near empty course. It’s a beautiful layout in excellent condition with wonderful attentive staff and a great value. If this course were located where I live it would be full every weekend (this was a vacation round). Highly recommend!
