Mercer Oaks Golf Course - East Course
Played On 04/15/2024Very good track!
The east course is challenging for the average golfer. Course was in excellent shape even with the relatively recent aeration. Oddly not a single rake on a course with a ton of sand. I’m sure there is a reason for that. Good value.

Very tough track. Very playable after a night of heavy rain. Starter was a hoot. Great chatter and very helpful.
Odd experience at the counter checking in. My partner and I were the only folks in sight due to the rain. Check in pro spent 10 minutes explaining the public courses membership rules to someone at least 4 different ways. Never even looked at me waiting to pay and tee off. Odd. Could have multi tasked or used a brief hold.

Nice conditions for a mod winter round. Helpful staff. Appreciate the chance to play a well maintained private track.

Played On 03/10/2021Nice Track
This is a well run course with a modest layout. Some tough holes and a lot of basic, short par 4s and 5s. Nice staff and a decent 19th hole. Great value. Worth playing.
Ocean County Golf Course at Forge Pond
Played On 12/12/2020Nice short track
Pleasantly surprised with the condition of this short par 60. Played on a Dec afternoon under a threat of rain [but no rain], so the crowds may have stayed away. Most short exec courses run by local towns are not well kept. This one is the exception. Greens were in great condition for Dec. Almost no ball marks to fix on the greens. This means that the grounds crew and or regular players take care of the place. Lots of short par 3s, but a few challenging holes. This is a good place to spend 2-3 hours if its not too crowded. Assume it is in nice weather. Well done Bricktown.
The Club at Shannondell
Played On 05/07/2020Good Value for the money. Very friendly staff.
This course is a good mix of wide open and tight holes. A few very tough ones, but overall most are forgiving. Greens were in great shape and fast. Staff did a very good job managing people through the social distancing issues. This track is worth playing. Will be back.
The Bucks Club
Played On 01/15/2020One of the better Bucks public tracks
Heard great things about this course from other players. Got lucky with a 50 degree sunny January day. Course was in excellent winter condition with good quick greens. Front 9 is less challenging than the back but not easy. Back is much tougher and has 3 or 4 holes that would be the signature hole on many good public courses. Friendly staff and fellow regular players. Will definitely play again.
The Abington Club
Played On 07/08/2020Urban 9 holes with a very tight layout.
Bring a lot of golf balls. Tricky layout where (believe it or not) its hard to find the next tee box on at least 4 holes. Great value for the money. Tee boxes were all rough as were 3-4 of the greens. Very well kept tee to green. Odd feature: daycare affiliated with the course set up an afternoon activity on the 9th fairway in front of the green rendering the hole unplayable. Weird.
Mays Landing Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2020Worth playing at the Jersey Shore
Great value for a decent layout near the S Jersey beach towns. About 6000 yards from the white tees. Very flat and mostly wide open. I played in the middle of a hot spell and the course was very dry. Added a lot of length to the tee shots but otherwise the course held up well. Staff did a good job managing the play during the Virus environment. Met a very helpful guy at the turn who was maintaining the range. Turned out to be the owner! Doesn’t happen every day :) Good track for the money. Looking forward to returning after some rain.
The Links Golf Club
Played On 05/01/2018When is a Hot Deal not a Hot Deal?
This course is fun and generally a good deal. I recently played this course on a Hot Deal for a reasonable greens fee for a moderate course.
When I arrived, I was told that the course had been recently aerated and that the back 9 was closed. I was allowed to play the front 9 twice. The front 9 had also been aerated recently. The greens were bumpy and barely playable. None of this was disclosed in the Golf Now app. Courses should disclose when their discounted 'Hot Deals' are a function of current substandard course conditions. Golfers have a lot of options. Occasionally, discounted prices in exchange for rustic conditions are appropriate Unusual course conditions should not be disclosed after arrival at the course when fees have already been payed.
The Links is worth playing under average conditions. I recommend that you call before you commit to a transaction for this course on the Golf Now app.
Mays Landing Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2017Good Value for the money. Very friendly staff.
Not the longest or hardest course you will ever play, but in excellent shape and great value for a moderate price.
Crowd was light the day I played, but the rangers kept up the pace of play and were helpful. The course has a terrific cart manager, an older gentleman but the name of Mickey [I think]. He was a big help with advice on a first timer on the course and even led me to the back nine tee box, which is quite a distance from the clubhouse. If the rest of the staff is as good, I would definitely pro shop and 19th hole a shot.
This course is definitely worth a try.
