Be Careful of the Fine Print.

I grabbed this deal on GN with the headline reading 18 Holes /cart. Cart is NOT included. According to the staff, they recently updated the contract with GN and the website has not updated the correct information. It’s $72 total. I was paired with another threesome who ran into the same issue. As did the group behind us.

As for the course, it’s in pretty good shape. Greens we’re fast and true, fairways were cut nicely, rough was appropriately punishing. Long enough for the big hitters and scoring chances for those who keep the ball in front of them.

Pace of play was deathly slow. It’s a semi-private course where the entitled members feel this is Augusta and they should be treated as such. Some of the staff tries to be very accommodating and some make you feel like you’re bothering them.

Overall, the course is definitely worth playing. Once.

You're kidding, right?

The International is set in the middle of nowhere and has the potential of a pristine setting. Driving in gives you the idea it will be a premier golf course.

That's when you meet the staff. The first impression of the club. Each staff member makes you feel like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to pay $129 to play golf. It's at that point where they shrug toward the door to let you where you can possibly find a cart to load your own clubs.

The course is in decent shape. The tees are well defined and the fairways have been meticulously manicured.

Again, it ends there. The bunkers look like someone left the cover off of your kids sandbox. And the greens look like the grounds crew members were unsure they where wanted to mow.

There is drinking water on holes 1 and 18. Yup. You heard me right. The cart person is scarce (1 person for both private and public course- I assume she spent most of her time on the private course. Understandably) and the on-course shack is available on 4 and 13.

The staff at the Fireplace Room continues the holier than thou attitude when and if they finish their conversations among themselves to pour a drink. (Check your bill. They charge you for ice!)

There is absolutely no reason this course should be collecting the $129 green fee. If you can play for $50-$60, jump on it. But plan on spending that on a round of beers.

Painfully Slow

Disclaimer:

We were the first group out after a league.

Now saying that... We walked off after the 4th hole when we were 1 hour and 37 minutes into the round. We were warned that it would be slow but this was beyond bearable. The on course ranger was extremely polite and apologized for the pace of play but didn't find it neccasary to close the number of gaps ahead.

The course itself is situated in the middle of a new development but doesn't take anything away from being picturesque. The fairways are extremely well groomed and the greens are near perfect with true roll. Since it was our first time out, we were directed by the owner/manager to notice different holes including the 9th island green. It's a shame we couldn't get to see half the course. The staff is extremely friendly.

It does lack a clubhouse (one is being built, I'm told) and it seems as if the members are catered to much more than the daily fee player. Where the course only stretches to a mere 3000 yards from the tips, the course has a "members only" policy to play from the back.

If you can get around, this would be perfect for the shorter hitter or the player looking to work on the shorter irons. (Although, you can play every club in the bag).

I hope to make it back. It would be a great ego boost for personal scoring. But over 3 hours for 9 holes on a Monday afternoon is tough to swallow.

Sorry to hear about your experience. They have made some changes this year where there is not much back ups as in previous years. I live on a tee box and have noticed very few slow days. Black tees can be played by single digit players, not just members. the course is in fabulous shape and the club house should be started soon.

This course is perfect... Sorta.

Let me start by saying I paid $30 for 18 holes w/ a cart. For a course that measures 6300 yards from the blue, that's a pretty good deal.

Now I say perfect because it's great for the novice or even the very beginner hack out to chop his or her way around a "real" course. I carry a 4 handicap.

It's perfect if you're on vacation in the Cape and have five-plus hours to finish a round of golf. I did not.

It's perfect if you aren't into the scenic views golf courses often offer. I'm a frequent player of Pinehills, Brookside, or Waverly Oaks.

So you see... It's a perfect course with unbelievably great value for everyone. Everyone except the avid golfer.

Thank Goodness for GolfNow

Ok, maybe I'm spoiled because of the courses I play in my town (Plymouth, MA) but the overall layout and condition of this course is well below standard. We played from the blue tees (a relatively short 6300 yards) and there were virtually no decent landing areas. You can tell there was some thought in the planning of the golf course just not execution. At one point there are three par fives in a four hole stretch.

Most of the holes are on top of each other so you're constantly ducking wayward tee shots. (Our cart got hit. TWICE!) Fairways and tee boxes are poorly groomed but the greens were in decent shape although they could have been swept. There is a significant number of tree limbs that hang over launching and landing areas for no particular reason. Especially from the back tees.

Now after saying all this, I did get a great deal on GolfNow for $15 with cart for 18 holes. For that money it was definitely worth it but I wouldn't pay a penny more. (It's $45 during the week and $55 on the weekend)

It is a great place for the beginner golfer to get their feet (and golf ball) wet. There are some holes that are picturesque and can be intimidating for the beginner golfer. The staff is very friendly and the clubhouse is well stocked with an extensive menu.
