Course design overshadows shaggy conditions. Sand traps need some serious attention
Harbor Club on Lake Oconee

Really challenging Tom Weiskoff design. Does a great job of bringing hilly terrain and woods into picturesque play. Sadly, the course is not particularly well-maintained. Bunkers are a complete mess, tee boxes look like a beat up muni course. Reaching pro shop via phone is difficult. Starters are friendly, helpful and engaging- very professional. Pro shop staff a delight to deal with especially Carter and Wayne.

Course layout is OK. Not a fan of Mike Stranz design, too many blind shots, just my preference. On course experience was the problem. Teed off at 9:48 and on the third hole, a par three, there was a group on the green and three groups on the tee. Ranger showed up and drove off to investigate the backlog, three holes later he came by and told us he hoped that the lead group would speed up. The round took five hours. Unacceptable for the $160 fee. Added to that there was no sand in the containers on the carts. Considering this was a destinations, more disappointment than memorable.
Irish Course at Whistling Straits

Beautiful course, top quality layout/design. I strongly recommend that you choose the correct tease. Don’t try and be a hero. If you choose the correct length the course is incredibly enjoyable and playable. Certainly tough and will present a challenge. Lunch in the grillroom afterwards is also very enjoyable. Can’t wait to get back

Extremely well-maintained course. Typical old-time layout with numerous parallel fairways, that is not a criticism just a description. Greens are smooth and fast. Recent renovation a real success. Definitely worth a visit.. Easy to walk, will value for the price.
