Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 03/14/2020Pretty tired course
Played with my wife and nephew. Fairways and bunkers are in pretty rough shape. Not much grass in the fairways and bunkers look unkept (and there are a lot of them). Tee boxes have some grass on them but are somewhat lumpy and uneven. We paid about $33 each for an early Saturday afternoon tee time so I guess I shouldn't have expected much more than what we got. The greens, for the most part, were in OK shape. I probably won't go back.
Moccasin Wallow Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2018Perhaps improving but still a way to go
I selected this course because it was convenient to where we were traveling and I read some reviews that said the course conditions had improved from previous years. I'll start with the good...the green surfaces were in great condition and the pace of play (Wed afternoon) was great (under 4 hours for me and my wife). I've read reviews that said the tees and fairways were improved. I found most of the tees to be OK but a few were still bad. One womens tee on #12 was crabgrass and sand. I'm not sure about the fairways. We started on 10 and it seemed to be in pretty good shape but but it looked dormant (brown). Most fairways were covered in piles of grass clippings and I'm not sure why that was. Anything that wasn't fairway grass looked pretty unkept. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not. Lots of sandy areas and splotchy grass coverage. Some bunkers seemed pretty well covered in sand but others had grass clumps and little sand. I doubt I'll visit again until I see many more positive reviews.

The bunkers! It looked like it had been days since they had been raked.
Mirror Lakes Golf Club
Played On 02/06/2014Nothing special
Looking for a last minute round with my wife before leaving FL and ran across Mirror Lakes on Golf Now so we thought we'd give it a try. Here's how I'd rate it: Greens were slow, but consistent. Fairways had adequate grass. Rough was spotty and un-kept. Most bunkers had very little sand and look as if they've never been maintained. Pace of play was reasonable considering we were two, following foursomes. I've played for many years on private, resort, and municipal level courses. I'd rank this one a mid level municipal. That being the case, I consider the green fees a little high at $60.00 (however it is February in So Florida so I suppose they can get it).
