Challenging Track in Great Shape

My buddy and I managed to score a special "Seniors Rate" to play this course. Our interest was piqued when the course was identified as the number one public course in Florida. We were not disappointed. This is a more traditional track, not typical of Florida. It is a mature, tree-lined course with a lot of elevation changes. Tees, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The greens were hard and quick. If you could not spin a ball in it would be difficult to hold the green from any distance. Holes were interesting and non=repetitive. I give this one a big thumbs up. Also... unlike most other Florida courses we've played, this round came in just over 5 hours. Not great but better than everywhere else we've played on our vacation.

Eaglebrooke - A Gem Not Too Far from Orlando

Having played a few Orlando area golf course at exhorbitant prices and being disappointed with course conditions and pace of play, we decided to look further afield. Positive reviews for Eaglebrooke caught our attention. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival with help being given to unload our bags and set up our carts. The course had a good practice area with free range balls. The layout is superb with excellent variety in holes. ?The back nine is a bit tougher with several forced carries over water. Course conditions were great with the greens rolling fast and true. We played the front 9 in less than 2 hours but the back 9 bogged down a bit taking nearly 3 hours. However, we had a perfect day and really enjoyed the ambience of the course. To boot, as per the namesake, we saw several bald eagles on the course and a few hawks as well. About an hour from Orlando, it is worth the drive.

I Don't Get the Positive Reviews

Based upon recent favourable reviews, we decided to give this golf course a shot. Things started off poorly and got progressively worse. First - we arrived 30 minutes early to learn that there was a 1 hour delay in start times. Why? No reasonable explanation was given however we a number of 5-somes being let off the first tee. It appeared to us that this course was slotting in singles with established 4-somes. Course conditions were abysmal. First the course was really wet and carts were being allowed all over. Tire track and ruts were prevalent on every hole. Tees and fairways were weedy and wet with plenty of bare spots. Greens, however, were in very good shape. Pace of play was the worst I have every experienced. The front nine took 3 hours and 10 minutes to play. If we weren't on vacation in Florida, we would have walked off the course. Total playing time was 6 hours 5 minutes. Absolutely disgusting. We complained on course to the marshall, who did nothing. In fact, on a couple of occasions we saw 6-somes playing together. If I could give this course a "0", I most definitely would. We will not return.

A Niagara Gem

After a few year's absence, I once again had the opportunity to play Grand Niagara. This is truly a gem in Niagara, in my opinion, the best course in the area. Perhaps, it is due to the location, but this course should be getting more play than it does. It was in fantastic shape with the greens running fast and true. Fairways and bunkers were well maintained. As a twosome, we played the course in under 3.5 hours. Marshalls and staff were very congenial. I do not hesitate to give this course a big thumbs up.

We are glad that you made it back. The Course is only getting better. Greens NOT being aerated until November 2015. Prime conditions continue. We look forward in your return. GnStaff

One of Ontario's Best

Brantford G&CC is a great golf club as recognition through the SCORE 100 indicates. It is beautifully situated overlooking the Grand River Valley. Although the first and second holes are rather bland they give a good warm-up on what is to come. The valley holes offers a good mix of challenge and beauty.

A Stanley Thompson layout promises well treed fiarways and undulating greens. Accuracy is much more important than length at this shot makers course. 11 and 16 offer beautiful panoramic views.

The course suffered greatly from the December 2013 ice storm but has rebounded well. It was in great shape - well manicured fairways and bunkers, fast, true greens... all was good.

If you happen to be in the Brantford area and have the opportunity to play here... do. The round can then be completed at the lovely clubhouse overlooking the Grand with a drink or two and a great meal from the talented kitchen staff.

I Really Wanted to Like It But

Three of us are visiting Florida to escape the winter blues and to enjoy some sun and golf. Raptor Bay caught our attention. We booked on Golf Now for $105 each,. Great impression on driving in. Beautiful landscaped entrance to a resort course setting. Pro shop staff were very welcome and accommodating. Shop well stocked for any of those last minute purchases you may want. Friendly starter met us and explained the lay of the land. A cart girl would have been nice as we played on a hot humid day

The course was in pretty good condition. Greens were top notch but tee blocks were a bit beat up. Fairways were a bit too close cropped for my liking. But in excellent shape. The holes were a bit on the bland side though. Hit it straight and you had some pretty mundane vanilla golf. Greens were large and not particularly challenging other than being a bit slow No bunkers but extensive use of waste areas that doubled as cart paths. Playing out of these was like hitting a ball off concrete. No blast shots here. Fairways were crowned with no rough to speak of. Errant shots would roll into the pond or Palmetto lots of blind shots and hidden trouble that jump up and bite you.

Would play again but at a sub $100 price point
