The Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/21/2019Excellent greens. Tee boxes not great. Bunkers poor. 3 out of 5.
Teed off at 1pm. 2 ball. Made very good time up to the 9th hole but then we caught up with members. Pace of last 11 holes was much slower which was a wee bit frustrating. The greens were generally in very good condition. The tee boxes were pretty badly damaged and some of the bunkers were very poor. Sand was grubby, not raked, just poor quality. The 8th and 18th holes are very easy on the eye. There is a lot of work going on at The Ridge and this will much improve the overall facilities. All the staff that we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. We booked via GolfNow so paid £19 for 18 holes which is very good value. Completed the round by 4.45pm.
Surrey National Golf Club
Played On 03/19/2019Good value course.
I’ve played Surrey National half a dozen times now. The course was in reasonable condition for middle of March. Unfortunately there were far too many unrepaired pitch marks on every green together with loads of divots on fairways, again unrepaired. Pace of play was ok. Two ball got round in just under 4 hours. Decent sandwich in the bar afterwards. £19 for the round via tee times.co.uk
Surrey National Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2019Great value for money course.
Teed off at 12.45pm and finished just before lights out at 4.45pm. Pretty decent pace of play. Course was in good condition for mid January, although pretty much every green had numerous unrepaired pitch marks which was pretty frustrating. Other than that, 18 holes for £12 you just can’t go wrong. Shot a gross 80 with four birdies, so my best round for months.
Limpsfield Chart Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2018Very slow play. Some holes are dangerously close to each other. Keep your eyes and ears open. No food available.
Can’t really add much to the above. 3rd and 4th holes are dangerously close to each other. The 8th and 9th share a fairway effectively and the members strolling down the 9th seemed to be blissfully unaware that we were waiting to tee off up the 8th. Painfully slow. Took 4 hours to complete the 2x9 holes. Probably an hour longer than it should for a 2 ball. Greens were in good nick though. Got back to the bar at 2.15pm to be told that the kitchen was closed “because we have a function on this afternoon” so they couldn’t even make us a ham and cheese sandwich. There was one other person in the bar at the time so she was hardly overworked. Overall not a great experience for a new visitor. The sunshine was nice.
Cherry Lodge Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2017Cherry Lodge. Much improved course. Fast greens.
Played in a 2 ball. Course looks very much better than the last time I was here 15 years ago. Greens are immaculate and quick ! Some tight drives to negotiate. The par 3 8th hole is a picture. We caught up with an elderly 4 ball at the 13th so that last few holes were much slower but we still got round in 3 hours 45 minutes. I would recommend this as a decent challenge for mid handicap golfers. Probably a good option for a society.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. We take all reviews and comments very seriously and are disappointed to learn your experience playing our course and visiting the clubhouse wasn’t as good as it should be.
Since your visit back in October 2018, the Club it has started implementing some very exciting changes and both the course and clubhouse are undergoing vast improvements both in look and function.
Our course is famous for being challenging and we believe it is why we have over 300 members and get so many golfers returning week after week to play here.
If you are ever in the area again in the future please do give us another try and I’m sure your experience will be a much better one.
All the best LCGC
