The only thing keeping this course from being excellent is the bunkers. They suck. Especially the bunkers with red sand. I have to rate the course conditions as good at best. Fix those bunkers, especially the red sand bunkers and then I can rate the course conditions as excellent! I hope they keep on eye on these ratings. Fix the bunkers, its not that expensive to replace the red sand with white sand.

Second time playing here. Course was in great shape. Bunkers could be better with more maintenance, I thought they were not all that user friendly, mostly noticed that many of them were wet from course watering. Rough was penalizing without being over the top thick. Did not loose a ball in the rough all day. Greens rolled true, were a bit slow but probably because they had not fully recovered from the spring aeration routine. If you are used to flat greens, you are going to have some 3 putts. I found the greens to be overall smallish (most of them) with some false fronts to deal with. Love the overall layout though and will play here again for sure.

This is Lake County's only 18 hole golf course and the best one in the county. The course is maintained well for the most part. Sometimes they can't mow the rough because of rain and it sometimes gets very thick to where you have a hard time finding your ball in it. The white bunkers are average but are much better than the red sand bunkers which are horrible. Sometimes when your ball goes into a red bunker it skips out from lack of sand. There was talk of them removing the red sand and putting in white river sand but to date it has not happened. Stay out of the red bunkers at all costs. The front nine is flat, pretty much wide open and has a few holes that are hard to par consistently. The back nine has a lot more character with elevation changes and more interesting holes. You would think it would be easier to score on the front nine but for some reason I score much better on the back nine. Generally speaking the golf course is well maintained with the exception of the red bunkers and the greens are always in good shape. In the summer the course can play very fast with a lot of roll, which I like. The staff is helpful and friendly and the food and bar are very nice as well. I play here a couple times a month or more, weather permitting.
