Too extreme to me

Although I played well, the course layout for me was not enjoyable. Just because one can build a golf course in a difficult location doesn't mean you should. A 9 hole course on the valley floor would have been better. The back 9 routing up and down the mountain on cart paths that switched back and forth continually was ridiculous. I don't know why pro shops fail to tell you they aerated the greens and put sand down before you pluck down your greens fee is beyond me. The greens were unplayable in my opinion. Constantly had to wipe sand off my ball and hands.

Spectacular Views Average Course

The surrounding views off the first tee are awesome and some of the best in the Catskills. The course routing itself is straightforward. While there are a few doglegs, most holes are straight. A majority of the back nine have pararell fairways. The standout hole is the par 5 12th, a dogleg par 5 to a challenging downhill lie approah to a green guarded by a pond in front and sand trapsleft and back. They are upgrading the downhill 14th with a more difficult approach to in similar fashion to th 12th hole. I do reccommend the course as beginner friendly as the course is generally wide open, but a few narrow fairways will keep you honest. While preseason, the greens were still in rough shape and the bunkers have rocks in them. With bad greens I dont think the nearly $50 green fee makes this a good buy.

Great Lakeside Holes

This course is fairly easy but offers 2 holes on the lakeside that are memorable and challenging, As a high handicap, I enjoy playing courses like this one.

This is a fun, municipal course. Some really beautiful views and great wildlife, especially on the back nine. It has some very easy holes and some pretty challenging ones. The course is kept in decent, but certainly not very good shape. They really need to over seed the fairways and do something about the dreadful sand traps, which are rock hard, with no sand and no drainage. But hey, it is a public course and a fun round of enjoyable golf. Oh, one more thing, they need to have a Ranger on the weekends to keep things moving. Can get painfully slow.
