t's a simulator...so you get out of it what you put into it.
This is an average golf simulator in an above-average setting, in the Western Bronx. Easy to get to and park. Staffed by New Yorkers, what can I say?
It's not cheap, but it's New York City. Look, you can get your work in and get your swing reps in any weather...how bad could it be?
Yellow at Bethpage State Park Golf Course
Played On 11/05/2014Bethpage...the Crowded Jewel of Long Island
For the newbie, Bethpage is one of the nicest pre-war public courses in the US. It fits and complements its natural terrain, and offers courses of varying difficulties. Yellow is the easiest...a forgiving, undulating track with wide fairways. However, you get several chances to have the ball above and below your feet, as well as in sand and under trees. Greens are generous, but challenging. Slow putting and littering abound, so set a good example during play. Colorful NYC/Long Island characters abound.
Bethpage has benefited from having sponsored & major tournaments played there and has wisely plowed back tourney fees into facilities. Drainage, carts and clubhouse are above-average, driving range is not. Since it is a jewel, Bethpage is inundated with players of all classes. A 4.5 hour carted round is not uncommon, but it's hard not to be diverted by its beauty. A beverage on the clubhouse terrace is memorable.
