This is a jewel of a course - well groomed and nicely laid out, great practice facilities, nice carts, friendly staff and starters. The bunkers could have used more sand. Best hot dogs! We really enjoyed our day and would happily play there again.

We enjoyed our day at El Rio although it was windy (as usual in that area) and the pace of play was glacial due to a tournament ahead of us. The course was in good shape including the bunkers which were well groomed with a good amount of sand. The price was about right and, were it not for the wind, I would probably go back.

Checking in was straightforward and the proshop was polite and efficient. We were surprised at the very poor condition of the fairways and greens. The grass is lumpy and irregular in height and the greens are discolored and inconsistent.
A marshal came by and rudely told us we must drive on the cart paths (which are, in themselves a combination of gravel, dust and the occasional paved section) in spite of no instruction from the proshop of this, all other players driving wherever... and him not doing so. Sometimes male marshals make a hobby of flashing "authority" at women players. *sigh*. Won't be back - not worth even the modest price.
