Great Value, Good Course

This was my first time playing Diamond Ridge, I had played The Woodlands a few years ago and I would have to say i enjoyed Diamond Ridge more. This course is a great value. We booked on the web site for just $39 on Sunday afternoon.
The course was in pretty good shape, everything was great, but the greens probably needed to be cut, they were pretty slow, but true. This course offers a good variety of holes, some nice par 5s (some reachable with well played drives), fun par 3s (length of the par 3s makes the course more interesting, no standard 150 yd. holes), and a few short par 4s. The variety of 3- par 3s, 3- par 4s, and 3- par 5, make the back nine fun.
There are a lot of bunkers that are well placed but the greens are fairly large and the fairways forgiving.
The pace of play was standard and we never found ourselves waiting more than a few minutes to hit, even though we had 3 walkers in front of us.
The practice/warm up areas are really nice too, with a large driving range, 2 putting greens, and a chipping green on the side.
The guy who was paired with my group told us the red stake with green tops marked environmental areas that provided a free drop, I guess to keep people out of them. I don't know if this is true but I will ask the starter when we go back.
The holes are fairly spread out so you never feel like there are too many people around or you are hurried. We did see at least 8 deer throughout our round.
Cart girl was friendly, but only came around twice during the round on a very hot and humid day.
I will definitely be back to play, our round was very enjoyable.

A bit of a disappointment...

I was really excited to play this course after hearing it was nice for a while. I will preface my review by saying I only played 9 holes (see pace of play bit below). When I got a half day from work I made a impromptu tee time from the parking lot on GolfNow. I quickly hit some practice balls (which were included) and found my cart and the starter. The starter Leon was really nice and told me a bit about the course. This gentlemen was maybe the highlight of the round, just talking to him and asking him about the course, he was really friendly and helpful.
The course layout was really nice and kept you interested, and a lot of the holes are visually deceptive and make you a bit uncomfortable on the tee box, which is not necessarily a bad thing. There are also a good amount of blind tee shots, I'm sure playing this course the second time with some experience would help.
As others have noted the course was fairly wet and the fairways were not in great shape, a lot of divots and a few bare spots. The greens were fast and rolled really nicely, maybe some of the best I've played. The tee boxes could use some TLC but not terrible. I found myself with a lot of sidehill and downhill lies throughout the round which made it difficult to hit the shots the course requires, although the course is not overly tight or difficult. There is a good amount of construction around the front 9 which I imagine could be distracting to some. They appear to be adding a LOT of homes around the front 9, which already has a good number of homes around the course.
Ok so the pace of play... oh my God it was difficult to play at this pace. It really ruined a nice round of golf. The group ahead of me had 5 people (although 1 was just riding) but only 2 carts, so some dude had to ride around hanging off the back, I was amazed the course let them do this, I've never seen it. The guy that had to ride on the back showed up on the 2nd hole and was horrible, spraying shots all over the course and taking too long to look for them. I'm sure it was not only this group that was the issue because they were waiting on the tees just like us. Leon came around on the 5th hole to tell us he told the really slow group to move along, but the slow pace continued. When we got to the 9th hole after 2.5 hrs. I called the Pro Shop to tell them there was still a pace issue. After seeing the back up on the 10th tee, my group just went inside to get a rain check for 9 holes. I am thankful the Pro Shop gave us a rain check because I was not looking forward to a 5+ hour round of golf.
Overall the course was a bit of a disappointment with the sub par fairways and tee boxes, but the pace of play made this just a 3 star review, I will be back eventually to use my 9 hole rain check and hopefully the back 9 is nice, with a better pace of play. I would not pay more than $45 to play this course, so most of the time I would consider it over priced, not a great value.

You get what you pay for...

I had a 6:50 from GolfNow so I could play quickly with no one around and that is what I got so that was nice.
Previous reviews about the guy at the counter pretty much throwing your cart key at you are absolutely true, the guy threw my key across the counter and was not very friendly. He also gave me a sarcastic "Have a great day" as I walked out after giving him a nasty look after getting my key.
The starter was friendly and told me a bit about the course and where the holes were.
The course was very wet and lush which made finding a ball that didn't end up in the fairway very difficult. The greens were extremely slow from being wet but they had also not been cut in a few days. The guy mowing them caught up with me around 12. The worst greens made it pointless to even try to make a putt outside of 15 feet.
Overall the layout is alright, although there are not any memorable holes. Off the tee the course is fairly forgiving, as long as you keep an eye on your ball. There are a fair amount of blind shots on the tee and into the green, probably on half the holes you can not see the cup on your approach.
Also they must have removed the GPS from all of the carts, the wiring it still on the carts but the monitors have been removed. Decent value as long as the course is not crowded and the grass is cut to an appropriate length. I would play again if I were local but I would not go out of my way to play here again.
