White Oaks Golf Course
Played On 06/03/2017Off the Beaten Path
Zoysia fairways and Zoysia Diamond greens for grasses. Greens are small, some have some tough undulations. Lots of small ponds and creeks, but hardly any bunkers (think I saw one fairway bunker). Does have some elevation changes too. Can lose some balls if not accurate with placement, between woods/water. Liked the back 9 better than the front 9. No scheduled tee time, just show up. Can make for crowding on weekend mornings. Nice to play something different, but won't put it on the regular schedule.

About 25 mins outside Chattanooga. Nice mix of easier vs challenging holes. You will hit 3W instead of Driver on some of these holes. Lots of ball position challenges above/below feet with second shots. Nice course that is never crowded (I have played it about six times).
Moccasin Bend Golf Club
Played On 05/20/2017Great Public Course
Wide open, water possibilities only on a few holes. Greens in good shape and bunkers are better kept than most of the other public courses.
Brainerd Golf Course
Played On 04/30/2017Nice Muni Course
Greens are in great shape. Pace of play was slow, very busy course on weekends. Fairly wide open with little water. Fairways were very soggy due to all the rain the area has seen. No driving range, but a nice place overall.
Concord Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2017Practice Course
The nickname of "Concrete" is appropriate. Almost like playing in a pasture from a fairway standpoint. The greens desperately need work. But for $20.50 for 18w/cart , its a place to practice. Have to run them up on the greens, as they rarely hold. If you are on a budget, its ok.
The Course at Sewanee
Played On 10/02/2016Top 5 Public Course in TN
Yes, it only has 9 hole with different tee boxes for the back nine. But it is in immaculate shape. Requires some shot making and course management skills. The rough really can be treacherous on this course since the redesign around 2012. (I played here in the late 80's and it's much tougher now). Breathtaking views of the valley on a couple of holes. A must play for anyone who loves golf.
Dogwood Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/11/2016Nice Mountain Course
Ball position on this course is easier than most mountain courses. Greens in excellent shape and very eye pleasing surroundings. Play this if you get a chance in the Chattanooga area...about 35 mins away.
Montlake Golf Course
Played On 09/05/2016Narrow Mountain Course
Greens are in good shape, some fairways need some work as do the bunkers. Can certainly lose some balls here with narrow fairways and some water. Has some interesting holes, especially the end of the back nine. Giant boulders near the greens make for some interesting approach shots.
Brown Acres Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2016Nice little Muni
Greens are very fast and in excellent shape. Fairways are avg., but the bunkers need some work. Overall a nice little muni course.
The Pointe Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2016Great course and value
Nice course that is fairly wide open and appropriate for all levels of players. Just pick the right teebox! Greens were very fast, but in excellent shape. Be ready for real 2nd cut rough. Looking forward to playing here again next time in OBX.
Holly Ridge Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2016Budget golf in OBX
Fine for family outing or some practice. Bunkers need some work. Bermuda greens are pretty slow with not much undulation. Get what you pay for and this is the cheapest place to play in OBX by at least 50%.
We cannot thank you enough for the excellent review! We're glad you enjoy the course and we look forward to having you back for a round soon. Thanks again!
