Played On 07/05/2021Greatest Layout?
Great layout -- Even soaking wet, always a fun course -!
Stonebridge at Newport
Played On 01/16/2021Great layout - improving conditions
The layout is more interesting than some of the competitor courses in the area, and the conditions are improving steadily, a little better every time I play here.
Not overly long, but the varied dog-legs and layout keeps this round interesting.
Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
Played On 06/19/2021Great layout, great-ish staff
I may lean slightly to the lakes course but don't sleep on the highlands - linksier style sibling! Great elevation changes in the layout!
BlackHorse Golf Club - South Course
Played On 11/29/2020Worth the money
Course was in terrific condition considering the rain that had been received the prior 2 days.
Greens were fantastic, and other than standing water that the starter warned us about prior to teeing if, no complaints.
Layout was a great mix of hole types without being too penal, the closing stretch is the money shot though, we will be back to play the North course, and definitely the south again!
P.s. the bar makes a solid Transfusion.

Played in super wet conditions and course was still a treat. South course does not drain well, buy the course conditions, greens, layout, and amenities make this one of the better public courses in the Houston metro area.
Johnny Goodman Golf Course
Played On 09/16/2019Interesting, Undulating Layout
Love the thought required to get around this course.
Plenty of doglegs, well placed sand traps, side and downhill lies.
Don't take driver off every hole, when a well placed iron will place you with a better approach.
Greens were undulating and rolling pure.
Will play again soon!
Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course
Played On 08/03/2019Best Public Access Course in Houston
From arrival to the parking lot staff friendliness and amenities in the proshop and grill were A+++.
Drink prices pre-round were reasonable and cheaper than many similar courses in the area, bring extra $$ for the comprehensive proshop.
Range balls included in the round started the day nicely as the practice facilities offered everything you could need preround.
Course was challenging but fair, lots of water and bunkering, but approaches from the rough were not impossible.
Greens were trickey.
Very cool to get a round in in the ramp up to the Last Houston open that will be held here, it was cool to see the stands being assembled near the greens.
Longwood Golf Club - Post Oak Course
Played On 04/19/2019Slowwwwwww
Despite copious rain the previous day the course was hard as a rock and dry. Interesting challenging layout is let down by green quality and poor grounds management throughout the course.
Be prepared for a round just south of 6 hours if it's nice out.
Tour 18 Houston
Played On 06/01/2018Must Play in Houston
While the course is challenging as could be expected for "America's Greatest Holes" the course quality is what really shines through.
Course was in the best condition I've seen it. Fairways green and lush, bunkers devoid of rock and mud, greens like a pool table, but still able to hold a shot.
The famous holes copied just add to the cool factor.
A must play when in Houston!
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 04/07/2018Wet, windy , and cold
But still a great time! Happened to golf on a rare sub 60 degree day in April in Houston....The wind was blowing hard off the ship channel, and there was intermittent rain, despite that an overall great experience.
Course was in solid shape and the round would've been imminently enjoyable had the weather cooperated.
Interesting layout, and the value is one of the better ones in the Houston area.
Put this one on your radar if it isn't already.
Stonebridge at Newport
Played On 03/24/2018Some Warts, but good bones
While the course was under drastic levels of repair, every bunker and many of the fairways and tee boxes, you can tell the bones are there for a nice little course.
The fairways were decent, and we enjoyed the layout. Greens are deceptively speedy, despite the typical spring time patchiness. Many of the teeboxes were rock solid, but had been aerated so I would expect them to soften up.
Will definitely visit again.
Nice little course, especially for the value and the friendly staff.
Tara Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2017Great Short Course
Wonderful course from tees to greens. We played from the White tees and the track clocked in at just barely 6000 yds so very short.
Fairways were lush and greens were in solid shape, although a little inconsistent.
Neat layout where course management can make your life easier.
An Average-Long tee shot on most holes will leave you with a very manageable approach shot and many opportunities for a Green-In-2.
Only downside is no driving range, however you can head over a little earlier to the sister course at Eagle Hills for one of the nicer ones in the 402 area.
Frisco Lakes Golf Club
Played On 04/30/2017Great Course, Moderate Challenge
Snagged a Sunday afternoon tee time at a reasonable price, had been meaning to play here so the quality of the course at a reasonable price made it a no brainer.
Course is well maintained with ample practice areas as well.
The fairways are wide and allow for some mishits but plan approach shots carefully, as at least on the day we played the greens were not holding at all.
Gale force winds caused the difficulty to be ratcheted up on several holes, requiring a 3 wood off many tees to avoid the large gusts pushing many drives out of the fairway.
Great layout and challenging yet still fun. We will be back, hopefully with less wind next time!
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 03/19/2017Old DFW Standby
The Old Course was a pleasant surprise!
The staff in the clubhouse were both solid, and welcoming, with the practice areas more extensive than many other area courses.
The course was laid out in a traditional manner with an even mix of par 3, 4s, and 5s, as well as an interesting mix of dog legs, straight carries, and some slight elevation change.
The course did have some hardpan fairways, and bunkers that needed work but for late March the greens were acceptable. Some holes required good course management regarding layups or carries over water.
Will likely be back, if nothing else to give the Lakes and Bridges courses a shot.
Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
Played On 03/17/2017Great Course, Even in March
Friday afternoon tee time went surprisingly well. Staff at the course were all exceptionally friendly, including the starter who hinted at several holes to watch out for as he checked my receipt, and issued me a cart.
Carts all have GPS, which is a nice plus when you don't have a range finder.
Course plays very tight so good course management is necessary or you're in for some high scores and a long day.
Greens were patchy in some spots but overall in good shape for grass just coming out of semi dormancy, and the fairways were in much better shape than many other ocurse
Hi, thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Tour 18 Houston.
