Shelbyville Country Club
Played On 08/04/2020Couldn't Play
Always enjoy the course, and the GolfNow rate. But had a schedule conflict come up that morning. And unfortunately, long phone wait with GolfNow customer support prevented me from cancelling for a refund.

Terrifically maintained, great staff. Greens still need time to recover from recent aerification. 10th hole is still under repair.
Lincoln Homestead State Park
Played On 05/02/2020Don't Forget -- It's 'Walk-Only' Right Now
Course is in terrific shape, greens pristine and true. A few spots without grass in front of a couple of greens, but otherwise the maintenance team deserves kudos. Bobby in the shop is really nice.
Don't forget tho, due to Covid, all State courses are currently 'walk-only', and Lincoln is a pretty good hike.
Otherwise, worth the drive to enjoy a round in the verdant rolling Kentucky hills.

Played On 04/19/2020Great Time, Great Rate
As usual, staff and course were great. Altho, even tho they'd been recently aerated, couldn't the greens have been cleaned, especially for a weekend? And don't miss the short grass, or be prepared to pay the price in thick rough.
No restrooms available due to Covid concerns.
Nice GolfNow rate, keep em coming, and so will we...
Kenny Rapier Golf Course at My Old Kentucky Home State Park
Played On 04/18/2020Course popping into great spring shape, but could be better. No excuse to not have greens tended and cleaned for weekend play.
Crosswinds Golf Club
Played On 02/17/2020Great Course and Rate
Discovered Crosswinds during a warm-weather escape, and it was everything a frequent golfer could want. Enjoyed it so much, we played it again the next day. High marks from my way.
Tanglewood Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2019"Winter Tees"
Be forewarned, current 'Winter Tees' are WAY ahead of normal positions, making it a much different, shorter course. Which most players will love.
As usual, great value, and the maintenance crew does a terrific job keeping the course in shape during challenging conditions. But getting stuck behind a fivesome that wasn't letting other groups through was no fun, and made for a much longer round. C'mon, a *fivesome*?!? On a Saturday?
And, as usual players hitting wayward dangerously close shots to players on neighboring holes have lockjaw about a courtesy holler of "Fore!" means that the track lives up to it's nickname --
'Tanglewood, where every round could be your last.'
Otherwise, course remains as expected, a unique challenge for a great price.
Hello, skipsurf. Thank you for taking the time to leave Tanglewood Golf Course a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Tanglewood Golf Course
Played On 09/05/2019Great Value Gem
Terrific maintenance crew keeps this course in stellar shape. Diverse player mix means some clueless sorts are driving carts nearly onto the greens, and far too many could use a reminder on etiquette (Hey, it's a tight course, give a holler if you hit a wayward shot!), but a VERY challenging track, where I seem to score well for some reason. Who couldn't love that?

Played On 04/11/2019Oh, If Only They'd Flip the Nines
Great track, terrific maintenance crew, nice amenities, friendly staff. Greens just coming back, rough still a touch long. But no one in their right mind wants to have their round end on that goofy 18th.
With so much competition in the area, have to wonder how many players' evaluation of this course and desire to return drops a notch due to it being the last hole and memory of the layout. Absolutely zero chance at birdie; most players happy to card a bogey. Which would be tolerable midway thru a round, but should be unacceptable as a closing hole.
Does flipping the nines just make too much sense?
Cardinal Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/14/2018A True Little Gem
40 minutes from downtown Louisville, but worth the trip. Compact but challenging layout, currently in terrific shape. You can really see the love and attention this family-run course devotes to their property, and it's great value with their Hot Deal rate, or even without one.
Hard to find a more enjoyable day on the links, and the landscaping, vistas, and warmth of everyone you meet are truly rare. Go!
Shelbyville Country Club
Played On 05/08/2018In Much Better Shape
Second time on this track, first time was pretty ragged. Fairways and greens are in excellent shape right now, so compliments to the maintenance crew. Rough is probably intentionally long, but deep enough you'll lose balls that should be in plain sight. Overall, with a GolfNow deal, price of the better playing deals in the area at the moment.
Nevel Meade Golf Club
Played On 11/02/2017Jigsaw Puzzle of a Course, but Fun
First time on this track, and altho the carts have yardage meters, that was no help to me walking. So I was generally ignorant on distances, especially with *very* limited yardage markers on the holes, and none at all on the tees. Even finding where the next holes were located was a challenge, since the scorecard only lists the holes individually, not the entire layout.
That said, the traditional links format is a nice contrast to other courses in the area. Altho it seemed like the entire maintenance crew was mowing during my round, there is still *plenty* of the usual long grass to punish errant shots, along with strategically placed traps. (Which definitely can happen if you don't know where to hit on the many blind shots.). Greens were running true, to about an 8. I'll take my first-time 80 and be satisfied, and try it again if there's a decent rate. Altho probably on a day with less wind, since as usual on a links course with plenty of wind, I was needing two clubs less or more from hole to hole. *When or if* I could actually determine yardage.
The Golf Club At Star Fort
Played On 05/17/2017A Gem for the Price
Greens in terrific shape, fairways fine. Although they could cut a few more spots of the rough, where tall gorse eats balls that *should* be findable (darnit). Terrific, friendly staff in the Pro Shop and bar.
GolfNow deals add even another star to Star.
LinRick Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2017Rock the 'Rick
Always dependable County-owned course. Could use to have the greens aerated and rolled, but it's that time of the year. Several holes are unique to only Linrick, and that's when you better be able to hit a few good balls in play.
Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Garnet Course
Played On 03/02/2017Price Still Too High
Even with a GolfNow Hot Deal, the rate is still too high. And the goofy check-in counter being downstairs in that dark cave is timestaking and inconvenient. Why not have a kiosk at the range or practice green?
Otherwise, well-maintained, and one of the top ten or so tracks in town.
The Links at Stoney Point
Played On 02/17/2017Some of the best views in the state, great track.
5-stars all the way around. Just please keep offering the Hot Deals specials so I can continue working it into my rotation.
The Windermere Club
Played On 02/09/2017Those Poor Greens
Still incredibly sad to see what used to be one of the top tracks in Columbia with greens that looked like they'd been shelled in Fallujah. Seems like the grounds crews are trying, but altho the greens are still mostly true and fair-paced, the pock-marks and divots still have those previously nice greens an absolute mess.
Who knows, at some point the drainage on the greens that has had them soft and mushy may have to be addressed with completely new drains. At least the crab grass (actually crab grass!, not poa) was finally gone since last round.
There's no way in the world Windermere should be charging their members and guests regular rates until it looks less like a war zone. Worth your play if you can get a REALLY decent rate on GolfNow. And mebbe the greens will finally come back after aeration this spring. But til then, it's slipped from a premier club to lower-tier muni. Buyer beware.
Greens were not the issue, the entire fairway was a swamp. Condition of the course completely ruined the day for us, along with the entire back 9 being closed. I really feel like we should have not been allowed to play that day. I had booked my tee time over a week in advance, we had options to play any where and chose to play covered bridge. Overall extremely disappointing venture.
