The Club at Savannah Harbor
Played On 08/05/2017Fantastic Course
My buddy and I were in town on business and knew we would have time in the afternoon to get in 18 holes. This course was on my radar a couple of years ago so I knew I wanted to try to play it while in town. It is definitely one of my favorite courses now. From the clubhouse to the first tee to the 18th green. I can't wait to get back so The Club at Savannah Harbor.
Mystery Valley Golf Club
Played On 04/09/2017Very disappointed
This used to be one of my favorite courses but it's not worth what they charge to play it right now. We had 16 guys play for our monthly outing and we all agreed that the overall conditions of MV were hugely disappointing. I've never seen MV in this bad of shape a month after aeration. The greens still have sand on them and there are some unexplainable patches of horrible fungus or something on many of them. For us to kick off our season with such poor conditions was a big letdown. I know my group won't come back, but it hurts me that I won't be going back to a place that I've played at least 10 times a year for the last several years.
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2017Great time
I was in Phoenix on business and picked this course because of its proximity to my hotel and the cheaper rate. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this course was since it wasn't charging an arm and a leg like other courses in the area. I paired up with two of the Men's group organizers and they were awesome to play with as we also played with a young lady that definitely slowed us down, but we all had fun. Awesome time! I will be back when I make it back to Phoenix!!!
Leopard's Chase Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation
Played On 08/28/2016The Leopard is worth a look
This was definitely the most scenic of the Big Cats courses. It is visually stunning. The tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers were all in really good shape. The greens left much to be desired. They weren't as bad as Tiger's Eye (which we played two days before) but they were still bumpy and slow. That was a huge disappointment to me and my group because the rest of the course was just so dang nice. I never did understand why these courses don't have water coolers on the course at least every four holes, but whatever. I wish I'd taken pictures of this course. It was beautiful!
Lion's Paw at Ocean Ridge Plantation
Played On 08/26/2016Good time, great course, but rude staff
First of all, let me say that of all four of the Big Cat courses, my group and I enjoyed this one the most (there were 12 of us). Awesome time on the links. When I went inside to get a breakfast sandwich before the round, the old lady working the counter was very rude and actually complained that there were too many of us. Again, there were only 12 of us. I decided not to give her any of my money and went on out to the course. Loved the conditions, the layout, and the overall experience. There were some LONG par 3s that made for an interesting day.
If Leopard's Chase had the smooth rolling greens of Lion's Paw, it would have been the winner of the four cats, but the award goes to Lion's Paw!!!
