Stonewall Orchard Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2021Beautiful course
I’ve wanted to play this course for many years and I’m happy I was able to play here today. The course is well laid out and feels more like a county farm vs a Chicago area suburb. The course is challenging for any golfer (myself included as a 13 handicap). This year so far has been a drought in this area and Stonewall Orchard only shows this in some of the heavy traffic areas. I feel the $77 weekday rate is very fair for this course....I wish I could have taken advantage of the late afternoon HOT Deals on Golfnow that saved $20+ per golfer. I’d certainly want to play this again in the future.
Branson Hills Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2021Beautiful course and layout
First time to this area and I loved this course. The winter had some effect on the grass as fairways still brown but were very playable. The course is very well laid out in the terrain and you feel very isolated from the busy Branson area. The course is very challenging so play the correct tees for better enjoyment.
Odyssey Golf Course
Played On 10/09/2020Conditions lacking compared to past rounds
I generally play this course a few times per year as I don’t live close. It’s a good meeting point for a friend & I too get out. This Fall Day was above average temps so the course was busy....which turned into a 4 1/2 hour round....we waited on most every hole. The course conditions weren’t real good, greens didn’t look to have been cut for a few days, many ball marks and traps haven’t been raked for a long time. I realize the year has been tough with weather/periods of drought & COVID making it hard to fund course maintenance. The rate was fair($30 for 18 with cart on a Fri Afternoon) for the conditions and Its not like I won’t play here again....just hoped for a little better conditions.

Makray Memorial Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2020Great Layout and tough greens
I haven’t played the course since it was renovated years ago. The layout was nice and challenging for a mid-80’s golfer which I do appreciate. There was water in play on some holes but not too punishing to ruin the round. The greens were fast and rolled great. My suggestion to an average golfers is to take at least an extra club to most approach shots to the greens as most were elevated and not easy to roll It on. The GPS on the carts were helpful as there were a few holes that were blind along with not hitting driver off the tee for better positioning on holes To avoid hazards. I booked with Golf Now on a HOT DEAL and it was a nice surprise as I’ve seen the rates often double what I paid. I will play here again for sure.
West at White Pines Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2019Nice layout and conditions
I hadn’t played this course in 20 years. I chose this course based on many of our group being from downtown Chicago and a few from the Northwest suburbs. We also needed a forgiving course as 3 of our 7 golfers are inexperienced women. This worked perfectly and all in our group enjoyed the day....along with the reasonable cost. A bad rain storm came in on our 14th hole, so we drove in to the clubhouse for about an hour delay. They let us play after the rains without any questions and even allowed us to change to the East Course(we played the other 14 on the West) due to play being cart path only & West was walking only. Pace of play was just right and would have been at 4 hours(rain came)...great considering we went off at noon on a busy Fri(July 5th). I will keep this course in consideration for the future.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us after so many years away. Thanks for leaving us a review, we look forward to seeing you next time you're in the area - we just hope it's less than 20 years from now!
Course #2 Ravines at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/03/2019Cog Hill #2-Ravines
Our 2 some had a time for 11:57 but since there were openings ahead of ours, we got off early...to beat the forecasted rain which we did(and it never rained). I hadn’t played the course in more than 15 years and didn’t remember much but I must say it was very enjoyable. The fairways are well defined, large greens and overall great shape. The course is plenty challenging for mid 80’s golfers, plenty of undulations and nice scenery. We played in 3 1/2 hours which is always great, one 4 some asked us if we wanted to play through. The cost of this course vs a basic municipal/park district type course is higher and worth it. I would like to play course #4 at times just for the experience of it...and Pro type challenge but at $150 vs $ 75 for #2 I’m not sure it’s worth it for the level of game I play. My friend heard that replays for a second 18(on any course) are half the cost but only on available tee times....that’s a lot of golf on a HOT summer day. One other detail about this course (and #4) is that you don’t see any residential area homes or road traffic from the course...except service roads. You really feel out in the wilderness away from the hectic busy Chicago suburban traffic....until you leave the course.
Thank you for taking time to tell us about your round on Course No. 2. We are thrilled you had a good day and yes, it was very hot last week. We hope you come back and play No. 4. If you play the correct tees, you will enjoy the challenge and the overall experience. It is in great shape too!
Mt Prospect Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2018Nice course but VERY slow play
We enjoyed the course and the greens were very undulating. Sand comes into play frequently. There was heavy play(Sunday afternoon at 3PM was our time) and the front 9 took over 3 hours. The back nine was better. It would have been nice if the course could have roamed the course more to encourage faster play and not rely on messages to the GPS screen on the cart which I'd guess most people don't read. At one point there were 3 groups on a tee box for 3 consecutive holes waiting to play. The layout of the course is such that many holes run next to each other and errant shots do go into other holes making it a little dangerous and adds to the slower play. The course is affordable and worth what they charge.
Thank you so much for coming out and playing with us! We apologize for the slow pace of play. We understand how frustrating slow play can be and we appreciate your patience with the slower golfers. We will certainly look into this and we do hope you'll play us again in the future.
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 01/21/2016Great Scenic Course
Played Lakes/Sunrise 9's and thoroughly enjoy the course. Fairways are pretty wide with many traps. Greens were excellent and consistent. There are many scenic holes with water, houses, and snowcapped mountains to accent the feel of the area. I never felt like I was playing the same hole again. We played from the back tees but there was plenty of other options for different skill levels. Driving ramge balls were included and $50 Callaway rentals were nice. The clubhouse had a private countryclub feel. We played a few holes on the Canyon 9 which was brown for the winter(no overseed). We didn't get slowed up by anyone and play was about 3 hours for our 2-some. If you go take a camera as there was a few spots worth the time to shoot a pic. Also some huge homes on the Sunrise nine that were nice to look at while driving. All in all a great day!!!
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 01/21/2016Great scenic layout
I played this course while in town for a business trade show. Driving up made you feel like you were at a private country club. It is a gated golf course community. We played as a two-some in 3 hours(Lakes & Sunrise 9's). We also played a few extra holes on the Canyon 9. For winter conditions I felt it was in very good shape. Some areas of thin grass and brown areas. For the Canyon 9 all fairways were brown as they don't overseed that nine so it doesn't have the pure green appearance. In all we enjoyed the course and the greens rolled great. There were many great holes that were challenging with level changes with mountain back drop. We played the back tees but there were other sets of tees depending on skill level. We needed rental sets and it cost $50 per bag, nice Callaways. Included in the Golf Now fee was range balls and they didn't hit us with the $5 fee others had wrote about on other reviews. We found a "Hot Deal" of $48 per golfer and we felt it was a great value for the course.
Desert Pines Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2016Nice layout
I arrived for a week trade show and took a $60 cab ride to this course direct from the Airport. The staff stored my luggage and I was on the tee in 15 minutes. I wasn't able to use the range and rolled a few putts. Rental clubs were $55 and nice Callaways. The course is pretty tight and scenic. We played the forward tees but noticed many tee boxes could add at least 40-50 yards to some of the holes. The greens were a little hard, some were big and undulating. There wasn't much sand in the traps, more waste areas. Play was pretty slow at 5+ hours. Nice course and a decent value.
Country Club of Coral Springs
Played On 11/26/2014Decent course
We chose the course based on location for other family members shopping at local stores who dropped us off. The course is nicely kept even though this day was wet from rain in the morning and cart part only. Play was pretty quick and layout had some challenge without being to tough.
Thank you for your review and we are happy you had a great time! See you again soon
