4 stars for the value! Very fun and always seems sunny in BC

Find the hot price for Boulder Creek at $14.00 and you won't regret it. Anything at or under $25 for a tee time here is great for me. The staff is super nice, great bar, old school but chill vibes.

Obviously the course itself is a different story but don't come to a par 65 course in the redwood forest expecting a "normal" golf experience. You'll be tested and challenged to hit it narrow, and there are some really fun holes on here. The par 5s are kind of a joke and my mom can probably reach them all in two. But again, fun holes all around, and the greens are straight up challenging, with some big slopes and sometimes tough to stick.

It's pretty tough for them to maintain the course given where it's at, so just play clean and place or whatever the rule is and give yourself a good lie if you're in a hole or bare spot, etc...the course is set up for you to have a great experience if you make it for yourself. Make the drive and support a great course and community!

Amazing course...

First off, the scorecard on this web page is completely inaccurate. I.e. hole 15 is a part 3 with max distance of 180 from tournament tees, I think the scorecard here lists it at 190? Men's blue tee from 15 is usually at 155, so the Ladies' listing of 166 for hole 15 is way off. If you've played here a lot, you know it's not as challenging as it's cracked up to be, and if you know where to hit it. They work really hard to keep the course in immaculate conditions, the greens are the best in the Bay Area. If you can consider joining I'd definitely recommend it.

Love it

Great courses, obviously Tournament is a bit better than Valley, the holes on the front 9 on the other side of 101 are incredible!

The staff is cool, the clubhouse is really nice and has a great atmosphere, and when I've played I've been lucky to have a fast pace of play with my partner and played alone another time.

Challenging with the wind, it will always be a 2-3 club wind after 11am or 12 noon, but in the morning supposedly it is pretty calm. Long holes on Valley will challenge players like me, so Tournament is better for shorter, more accurate players and I scored better on Tournament than Valley.

Super fun, try it out!

Fun, challenging, take a weekday off and have a blast

I've been fortunate enough to play the Ranch once during a Thursday at 12pm and once with my mom starting at 2, and the pace of play was good both times. During the week you'll have the course to yourself, but I can't speak for the weekend and I've heard it gets jammed during mornings and afternoons will be a bit slow as well. My mom and I barely finished (2-6:30pm) as we were behind a few slow groups. When I went on a Thursday there was absolutely no one there. I played two balls for the entire 18 holes (3 balls on some holes), took the time to walk up to spot blind landings, and really soaked in the course. It is challenging, but if you know some of the nuances and keep good control you'll be ok. My only complaint is that I know for a fact some of the yardages are mismarked. I think the yardage on the 4th hole is mismarked because without a laser sight it seems very difficult to gauge the carry on the 2nd shot. A few other holes are gimmicky, but the back 9 is actually very manageable. You won't find more pristine fairways than at The Ranch, but the greens are far from immaculate. 4 stars for average quality greens (bumpy, slow) and lack of yardage markers. Not as good as other courses in the area but still fun and a good challenge for your game. Take a weekday off and take your time to learn this course, then go back with your buddies on the weekend and school them!

Decent but wouldn't come back again

Decent muni experience that is somewhat challenging but needs a bit of improvement. The layout is kind of fun but flatter than expected, really no elevation changes and the "Creek" truly does run through all of the holes. If you can hit it straight and can eye out distances pretty well you won't lose a lot of balls, I lost 1 in the creek and that's it. Good luck getting an accurate yardage reading here though, you'll have to go by feel. Luckily the staff guy was super nice after we showed up a few minutes late and let us go off on the front 9 as we had to get back home for a family party by evening. We had the front 9 to ourselves (they start groups off on the back and then stagger them, this seems to RUIN the pace of play as the day goes on), and we finished the front in under 2 hours. On the back we caught up to other groups and were sandwiched in between afternoon groups who they were still starting off on the back. Didn't get the setup here. We finished 7 of 9 holes in 2.5 hours on the back and had to bail. Be prepared to keep your head on a swivel here, lots of hackers, holes are sandwiched together in a small acreage, and tee boxes are literally right next to the previous greens. Wouldn't come back here again as I am not local (SJ resident). If i was local i'd play it again for $20-30, max.
