Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 05/02/2022Always Love Playing Here
The course was in very good shape. Some maintenance here and there but not in the way. Quite a few forced carries over water so if you are timid about that you won't be too happy here. Greens were in great shape and very fast due to lack of rain and fast drying in the sunny days. I would HIGHLY recommend to the course to update your carts. The one I had had cigarette burns in the seat and the speed kept varying while driving on the cart path (or anywhere for that matter) from as fast as it would go (not very fast at all) to slow to full speed again. I thought about turning it in at the turn but decided to just keep it to finish the round. Just too lazy to move my stuff quickly to keep pace into the back. The other three guys had carts that were much faster than the one I got. But I do love this course (be careful of traffic when crossing the roads) and will be back when I can get a good Hot Deal.

Played On 09/25/2019Good shape and nice course, restaurant - MEH!
It has been about 5 years since I played on this course. Conditions were mediocre at best then and reviews were not good enough to make me want to go back. I played this course today as reviews had gotten better and a nice hot deal was enticing. I only saw one other person on the course so the pace of play was as fast as one would want. The course overall was in much better condition than I recall it from years ago. Fairways were mowed nicely, rough areas are maintained, greens were just fair and #1 was undergoing repair so a temp green was set up. I had a nice 2 1/2 hours playing this course and will certainly be going back again. After my round I stopped by the bar/restaurant to try the food. Today was chicken wings - 8 for $9. The wings were meaty, hot and nicely seasoned with the parm and garlic that I ordered. The fries came out cold. Not just warm but cold. The bar person, Donna, was not engaging at all and focused her conversations on three other guys at the bar. Donna's replacement was also not engaging and no one asked once how the food was or if I needed anything else. The ketchup bottle lid needed cleaning in the worst way, with ketchup all over the squeeze top on the inside - gross! I'll certainly play the course again but will not visit the restaurant again.
Thank you for your feedback. We are determined to improve the overall experience and i will be bringing up the issue regarding your meal and quality of service to our Restaurant manager. Work in progress as we bring the facility back to life.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 07/24/2019Challenging Course, OK Condition
Was started on the back today. Course was in OK condition. Only got through 10 holes and forced off by the storm. Fairways not groomed since grass and weeds relegate it to just cutting. Greens were in pretty good shape but duck week and some very thin spots need to be remedied. sand traps are more dried mud-sand making for a packed soil to hit out of. If you are not a fairly straight shooter then bring plenty of balls. Lots of trees, underbrush, and water abound. I can certainly see why this was a championship course back in the 60s and 70s. Nice layout and very challenging with forced carries from several tees and second shots. Squirrels are fed by golfers as evidence by them approaching within a foot and sniffing for a snack and posing for a photo op. I golfed here about 4 years ago and recalled the course conditions about the same. After playing Ventura yesterday, I will leave this course lower on my list of places to play from a conditions perspective. Venture is in great shape comparatively speaking. But Rio Pinar has the old Florida ambiance going for it. Have not tried the food at their Champions Gill yet but prices look reasonable for the menu items listed. I noted a pile of golf balls on the tee box to 17 with two small flags stuck in the dirt. No idea why this is here but perhaps someone out there can let us know what that's about. A memorial to our armed forces perhaps? Leave a ball?

Played On 07/23/2019Great Shape, Great Summer Rates
This course is very well maintained and is always in great shape every time I play it. The layout makes it an open course which high handicappers will enjoy by staying out of trouble most of the time. Fairways in great shape, tee boxes, greens and traps all in very good shape. Greens running true. Loose sand in the traps to hit out of, not the muddy solid traps like some courses have. Always a great time here and on the top of my go-to course list.

Played On 05/30/2019Nice Improvements, Great Shape Now
I have played this course starting in 2010 when the pro shop was a trailer and the residents ran it. I played recently as the reviews enticed me to come back and see the improvements. I must say that I was very pleased with great condition of the course. It's obvious to me that it's getting more money and attention towards upkeep than ever before. Tee boxes were like carpets, greens in great shape and fairways in really good condition. The guys were busy mowing all throughout my round. Love the ball washers on each tee but would have like to see some additional drinking water than just the fountain on 16, especially in this hot weather. The carts should be on the list for the next thing that needs some help. Keep up the great work. I do plan on adding Fairways to my rotation of courses going forward!
Thank you for the kind feedback! We are thrilled to see that our customers are responding to our attention to detail and now that we are rolling into growing season we look forward to increasing the course conditions to an even higher standard. We truly appreciate your support here at Fairways Golf Club and look forward to seeing you out here again soon!

Played On 04/09/2019Goodbye Deer Run.....Closed June 1
The Orlando Sentinel paper announced that Deer Run is closing June 1. It's no wonder the course conditions have been left to the elements instead of proper maintenance. Hopefully the residents living around the course can change the developer's intention of putting in over 2000 housing units. Nice knowing you Deer Run..........sad to see you go.

Played On 04/05/2019Beware of Large Gators, Course in good shape
I've played this course off and on for several years now and this is the first time I've ever seen any gators on the course. A 12 footer was walking on the #6 fairway about 30 feet from my second shot. A bigger one was noted by the bank of the pond on 16. He move in and swam away slowly. Better keep an eye on these guys and move them if they become too accustomed to people. The course was is pretty good shape. Greens getting quite a bit of duck week growing and need to be addressed. Tee boxes fair. More watering stations have been placed around the course to help folks stay hydrated. It's very obvious this course is being taken care of; from the areas being repaired to the Ranger who makes frequent rounds to keep an eye on play and remind and alert groups to cart path only holes after the heavy rain we had early this day. The cart girl made the rounds and we saw her three times. Play was average; 4 hours to get through 18, being slowed up by a foursome in front of us. Carts in good shape and plenty of sand for fairway divot repairs. Club staff are friendly and it's a nice to see this course improving.

Played On 03/28/2019Course needs watering.....and they are aware
I like to play this course when I can get a good Hot Deal. It's a nice layout and not typically jammed mid weekday when I like to go. Today the shop told me the course was extremely dry due to a pump being down. The fairways were not the best and the greens are in serious need of repair and water. Many weeds on the greens and missing turf along with the extremely dry greens made putting all but laughable. Greens were so fast and were not true by any means. Carts are showing their age and a cracked water jug on 14 look like they are not spending on maintenance and upkeep. I hope they get back on track. It's a nice place to play 18. I even enjoyed watching a bald eagle scoping out the retention ponds today.
We appreciate your review and dedication to playing our course. Your feedback about the course is important to us, and we truly apologize that your recent round did not meet expectations. We are working on getting everything up to par as our staff is always working towards improvements. Your feedback has been escalated to our team so we can hopefully make improvements before your next round, but we also encourage reaching out to our golf shop to address any further concerns directly. We will continue to work towards a better golf experience by using your comments for guidance and hope we have the chance to welcome you back soon.
Fairways Country Club
Played On 02/08/2018Greens great shape, carts need to be replaced
The greens were like nice carpet today. They are rolling so reading a putt is a must and finding that break is challenging. Fairways are in decent shape overall and they have cleared a lot of brush since I played here a year ago. New ball washers are in place which is nice. The golf carts need to be replaced. Seats have tears, steering is a bit weird, brakes almost non existent. Not sure if they are making a go of this place or if it's slowly sinking and they can't afford to improve the carts. It's a bit of a challenge to play between all the houses but overall a fun course to play.

Played On 02/01/2018Wait to play until course comes back
This has always been a very well kept course and my Go-To for being close, reasonably priced, and in great shape. Sadly the winter and fungus has put a damper on playing here as many greens are in very bad shape and being worked on. Most fairways are very thin making second shots and chip shots off of hard pack. I'm sure the team is working hard to bring this course back but I won't go back until perhaps this fall after they have the summer and time to heal this course back to it's typically great condition. I do recommend playing this course but not right now until conditions improve. They should also have the homeless encampment removed from the woods by the 8th hole green.

Played On 01/25/2018Course Needs Attention
This laid back course is a nice atmosphere to play on however, the course needs serious attention. The greens are in pretty bad shape right now and the fairways have a lot of very thin and bare spots which relates to making second shots off of hard pack dirt. Traps were reasonably loose. Ball washers are almost non existent. I do enjoy the layout of the course and will pay here when a good hot deal is offered, otherwise there are other courses in far better shape to play.
The staff has always been friendly and accommodating and the carts are in good shape.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 11/12/2014Very nice course
Played here first time and had a nice experience. The starter and cart staff were very friendly and accommodating. The course itself was in very good shape with fairways and greens really nice and greens playing true. Tee boxes not as nice but in good shape. Sand traps very soft unlike many hard pack traps on many courses I play. All cart paths are concrete and look fairly new. You can tell they put some money back into the care of this course which is so nice to see. No ball washers anywhere though. Beverage cart girl friendly and showed up twice in 18. The only complaint I have is that we got a cart that was either not fully charged or needs new batteries. It started slowing down considerably on 16 and on 18 I pushed it to get it moving. We just made it back to the clubhouse. All in all though it was a nice experience and I'll be back for sure.

Played On 08/20/2014Nice course, will play here again
First time playing this course and had a great experience. Had an early tee time and no one else to pressure the play. Course was in great condition, tee boxes, fairways, and greens, and we played 18 in under 4 hours at a leisurely pace. Bunkers were solid sand and some puddles. Greens putted true. Did not eat here as we were told it depends on whether the chef is on site as to getting menu items or just dogs and brats. Will definitely be back to play here again. Water hazards did not come into play for us at all but heavy slicers will find it quite easily. Straight shooting is required on this course.

Extra fee involved. Staff not the friendliest. Course spongy from recent rains. No GPS on carts - would be nice. More signage needed - easy to not find next tee box. Burgers in restaurant are good. Check Yelp for more complete reviews.

Played On 03/12/2014Nice course, will play here again
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in good shape. Some bare areas in fairways but we were told that this summer (June and July) they will redo the entire course. It will be closed for a while but I would anticipate very nice conditions upon reopening. We ate after the round in the clubhouse. Burgers were excellent as was the Ruben sandwich. Fries a bit wimpy but if they switch to a larger french fry it should help. Staff was very friendly and we totally enjoyed the round.

Played here for first time and was very pleasantly surprised at the near pristine conditions from the carpet-like tee boxes to the fluffy fairways to the nice green (even after recent aerification). No water hazards on this course but many bunkers to avoid. Rolling hills, nice trees and a challenging course will have me coming back for more! This course is definitely on my favorites list.

Played On 7/31/2013Good value, lots of fire ants though.......
The greens were pristine and a joy to find on this course. The fairways are OK and fire ants abound on this course. They really need to address that problem. No watering stations anywhere and no cart girl so be prepared to take your own, especially in these hot summer days. The traps were very wet and dense, some very hard and water filled. All in all though we had an enjoyable day on the course with only one group of 2 behind us all morning. Definitely will be back to play here again as the price was right for a decent course. It's no Disney course but a good choice for this area.

Played On 7/3/2013Poor Drainage, Difficult to Play in Standing Water
Played this course on July 3rd, 2013 after several days of downpours. This course has drainage issues and was quite saturated. Give it at least 2 days to dry out before playing after rains. Even the fairways have a layer of standing water on them. You ball lands in a splash on the fairways and you will fling a lot of mud on your fairway shots. I'll not play here again after heavy rains. When dry this is a great course to play.

Played On 6/25/2013Great fairways and greens, well maintained
What a pleasure to play on a course where the fairways are like a carpet and the greens the same. Sure beats the dirt courses! Staff very friendly, cart girl was not a stranger, and the burgers in the restaurant were cooked to specification and awesome! We will be going back very soon to play this great course again. Can't beat the GolfNow prices for this quality of course.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and suggestions. We have been struggling with the speed control unit on the Club Car fleet. They are replacing the bad parts as soon as they can. We are working on a new fleet of carts, but in the meantime, we will continue to improve the conditions of these carts.
