Fun course

Nicely maintained course with some challenging holes. The layout is relatively open, so not much chance of losing your ball in the woods, but there are many sandtraps and water on several holes. I played from the middle tees and expect the longer tees would have added more difficulty with the extra length. Greens were relatively fast but fair. A nice course and good value if you get a discount.

Interesting layout

I played the course 10/4/13. The fairways were in great shape but the greens were a bit spotty on several holes. The course was relatively short (I played the second-longest tees). Due to the layout of many holes, you are forced to hit an iron or fairway wood off the tee, otherwise you risk hitting through a dogleg or into a hazard interrupting the fairway. I would have liked more driving holes. Several scenic holes with large elevation changes. Greens are relatively fast with a fair amount of contour.

Greens need attention

This is a tight course that winds through a housing development. Fairly narrow, tree-lined fairways on many holes - so precision is important if you want to score. Staff are friendly, fairways and tee boxes were in fine shape, but the greens were just awful - among the worst I have seen in the Raleigh area this summer. I had a hot deal through GolfNow, so didn't mind as much as I would have if I had paid full price.

Nice Course

I played this course in late July, 2013. It was in super shape. The only downside is that the greens had been recently sanded. However, they rolled true and didn't affect play to any major extent. I played from the middle tees where the length is ~6000 yards. This is a golf community, but the houses don't encroach on the course and really don't impact play. You can hit into someone's back yard if you are unlucky, but on most holes the homes are a non-factor. Lots of rolling fairways, so you're not guaranteed a level lie. Several scenic holes on the course. Overall, pleased with the course. The greens fees are probably comparable for this level of play in the Raleigh area, but you can find some discounts that make this a good value.

Nice course

I found a good deal on a tee time at Lane Tree and decided to give it a try even though it is a bit further away than most of the courses I play in Raleigh. I'm glad I did. The course was in excellent condition, though a bit soggy from recent rain. There wasn't much traffic on the course when I played so I never had to wait to play a shot and finished my round in about 3 hours. I played from the middle tees and the course wasn't very long. But the layout makes you think through your shots and you can't just blast away on every hole. The greens were challenging - often well-protected by bunkers or mounds the greens allow for challenging pin positions. They are also contoured and fairly speedy, so you need a good approach to score. I'll definitely give this course another look.
