Clearwater Country Club
Played On 04/16/2021Not a Country Club
You pay $50 to play 18 at a country club, you don’t expect two sixsomes, barefoot golfers and tee shirt clad hacks. The course is dangerous even with backstop fencing at numerous tees. The back 9 was top dressed w/o the course notifying golfers who were booking, the front 9 greens were burnt and in sad shape. It’s the worst of the munis, no Marshall, poor conditions for MidApril, and just plain dangerous. Interesting layout, too many golfers who really can’t track their ball. No thanks.

Becoming one of three courses we like to play in the area. Got placed two groups behind several sets of ladies so the pace was dreadful. Fortunately they only played 9 and we could move on. A Marshall would be helpful here as the foursome in front refused to give way despite waiting on every shot and having a hole ahead wide open.
Course is in reasonable shape. Some of the fairways lies are very tight given the grass growth is minimal. I like the layout here. From the back tees the 3s and 4s are quite challenging. The par 5s have great risk/reward shots which really force you to play smart. Since there’s no drink cart or water, really wish they would allow small coolers.
Rosedale Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/16/2020Rainy but worth it
One of my new favs. We played most of the front in a drizzle but glad we stuck to it as this course is a really good value for the price. The 5s arecreachable w 2 excellent strikes and the 3s are all challenging based on their length. People are sometimes critical of the grass on the greens as it seems to grow horizontally somewhat which can make for a grainy roll that can be hard to read. I’m willing to keep playing it as the course and staff are quite accommodating.

The Links at Greenfield Plantation
Played On 04/01/20201st round on a windy day
Met Tony (pro shop) before the round. We chatted about the two courses he is running. Plantation layout has real potential, the greens rolled fairly well and the course looks to be coming around. He’s not a fan of Golf Now, but I appreciate him sharing why he feels that way. Course can be tough the 1st time you play it until you judge distances and learn where trouble is. My biggest hang up is the proximity to major roads on several of the holes. Not very serene w cars honking and buzzing by you.
Other than that, I’ll give them their due and continue to play there.

Rained yesterday so we weren’t surprised the low areas had standing water. Layout was nice, greens rolled well, fairways weren’t mowed likely due to yesterday’s rain. Biggest issue was pace of play. No Marshall and minimal input from staff to speed up play. A twosome actually held up a threesome and stacked everything up. The ball washers are falling apart and look like they’re filled w dirty water. They all need to be replaced. Beverage cart and half way house a welcome respite as the turn (9 to 10) is no where near the clubhouse. We would return to play under drier conditions. Good value for the money.
This is Tony the course owner. Just bought the course a year ago, and are fixing issues one by one. New ball washers are actually coming next week! We had some bigger fish to fry up until now. Glad you liked the course, and yes, MUCH more playable now that we had a few days to dry out after that storm! Come see us again. Tony

2nd time playing this course this year. It is a decent design, fair price, but the course doesn’t take water well so play it dry for best results. The greens are form and roll pretty well but Mgt needs to address the Poyanna before it really gets out of hand on the greens.
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - South Course
Played On 12/20/2019LJ South
Played the North course in the past and played South today. Rye was growing in well. Greens were about 3 weeks after Aerofication. Greens were firm, held well and rolled smooth. Layout is nice, we played through two groups as a twosome and enjoyed the round. Very nice condition. Would recommend. .

Perfect conditions today. Pace was horrible but it was Sunday and a popular day to play. Layout is well designed, practice facilities are substantial, even the Sunday brunch looked pretty good. One Ted was nearly bare, but otherwise the greens rolled well, fast and weren’t tricked up. The fact the drink cart quit right after we started at 11am was disappointing and the pace of play caused to wait on nearly every home but I would play it again.
Saddlebrook at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 08/11/2019Swamp land
Not Saddlebrook’s fault. 14 inches of rain in 12 days. Saddlebrook was Cary path only and then closed. We played Palmer which was 90 degrees and a bit drier. Nice layout.
