Golden Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2022Excellent course, varied staff
This is easily one of the top 5 public courses in Pennsylvania. Layout, conditions, variety - it’s got it all. But this used to be a private course, and the crust of higher class golf still remains. You’ll find most players and staff generally pleasant, but there are older staff who lack the social skills that keep public golf alive. This course will challenge your golf game and your patience bc alike.
White at Gilbertsville Golf Club
Played On 08/11/2020Good course, bad day.
Rough was thick and inconsistent with clumps of shavings. Fairways were smooth and consistent. 50% of tee boxes had ONE tee marker per box, other 50% didn’t have markers at all. Course was in excellent condition in July - not sure what happened since then but it’s a bit of a disappointment.
Rich Maiden Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2017Worth the price
Pleasant round with wet conditions. More grass clippings than usual, as expected during a rainy day. Very slow greens, with more sand in the soil than I anticipated. Overall, nice course with a nice atmosphere.
Berkleigh Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2017Nice design, lacks key features
Overall, Berkleigh was not as impressive as I was led to believe it was. Some holes certainly provided ample challenge, but greens were pretty slow and extremely soft. Most bunkers were flooded as well, but perhaps all of this was due to rain in the previous few days. Fairways and 1st-cut rough played nicely, but few holes were provided bumpy cart paths, meaning large portions of rough heading toward the green were butchered by moving carts. Our pace of play was excellent, and we managed to finish our round in about 4 hours and 15 minutes.
