Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 07/08/2022Getting better and better
I’ve played the course many times and I have to say that this time around for this time of year the course is looking so much better than most times I’ve played.
The course is narrow and tree lined so if you stray in some places you will find trouble, that said the trees are sparse enough that you won’t have too much trouble getting back in play.
The greens and the fairways are in much improved condition, I think there may have been 2 fairways that had a couple of bad spots. I really hope that they are able to keep things the way they are because I would love to get my group to add this to our weekly rotation.

Let it be known I’ve played this course on and off for years now, and I’m going to confess having not played it in over a year (way pre corona virus), I was unaware that you could not walk in for a tee time.
That being said the pro did not have to be a total Jerk (I erased original word) as if this was some private country club that a blue collar guy such as myself should not be at.
I will give the town of Casselberry a lot of credit the course is in better shape than I have ever seen it, the greens are still the slowest I’ve ever played on and the course does not drain well at all especially the front 9. It is not worth $72 I paid for me and my young son, especially if some Pro wants to act like he did, the good news is my young son and I still had a good time in the swampy front nine and rain.
Indian River Preserve Golf Club

This was my second time playing this course. The conditions are great, there was one maybe two fairways in need of help. All the greens were in awesome shape, no weeds in sight the rough was a little punishing so you really want to stay out of it. Course is not too far from the coast so the sea breeze was there.
The practice green and the driving range are nice. Practice green rolls pretty much as the greens do. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Let's start by saying that I got the tee time for $18.95 due to the greens having been aerated. It was the small aeration holes so it really didn't affect my game any. It was a bit overcast and windy due to the usual Florida summer storms but that aside this course was incredible. The fairways were lush and green, the greens were fast even with the aeration. There was enough of a challenge on most holes to have you thinking. I really not had to bad holes. One of the par 3's and then the par 5 eighteenth and both were all on me, can't blame the weather or anything.
The staff was very friendly and answered all of my questions and loaded my bag on my cart and filled the ice chest and offered me towels for on the course.
I would have had my best score ever if not for the 2 bad holes, I'm looking forward to playing it again and seeing if I can better my score. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a course to play.

First time playing this course, I was looking for someplace new to go and was browsing GolfNow when I saw this. Chose it based on the reviews from previous players and was glad that I did. Greens were in great condition. Fairways actually were green and well maintained which is a rare find this time of year. I'm not a great golfer but some holes were easier than others and if you played your ball right you were sitting good for your next shot. Staff was friendly and facilities were clean. I can't rate the food and beverage because I didn't eat or drink anything there. Pace of play was good but I started at 2:15pm and the course was steady not busy.

Ok, this is my home course. I've played it many times and have seen it in all kinds of conditions. A couple years ago I was quite taken aback by how bad the conditions had gotten. Fairways were terrible and the greens so bad that they actually dug up the practice green to use as sod to repair the other greens.
Last year I was quite impressed with how the conditions had gotten so much better and the greens were beautiful and rolling well. But this year we seem to be going in reverse again. Fairways are currently pretty good but the greens are getting to be a mess again. Not sure if it's a fungus problem or seeding issue but it's no fun to be trying to put on.
The staff though are always friendly to me, the food is good and if you book the golf with lunch you are getting a good deal in my book.
My hope is they get the course back in to the condition of last year because it is so much nicer to at on with lush greens and fairways.

I've played this course many times due to the proximity of where I live, and that is really the only reason I go there. The group that owns this course is not putting any extra money into it, they are letting it die a slow and painful death, rumor is that they are trying to redevelop the land into new homes and getting rid of the golf course all together. The staff there is friendly, the pro and the assistant pro are very helpful.
There are one or two holes that are pretty challenging with water and a narrow chute off the tee box that need you to know how to hit more than just a straight shot.
Personally I wish there was a group who would see this as a really good course and sink the money into it to make it better for all. I don't think that will happen though. Based on that I can not recommend this to anyone, use your money on a course that is there for the long haul so your money can go to it and the folks that work it.
