The BOG
Played On 08/02/2018A gem hiding in a small Wisconsin town!
This course will challenge you on every hole, and outright frustrate you on a few! I have to think Palmer was having a bad day when he designed a few of these holes. Nice folks, good food and drink. A class facility with a touch of a small town feel. Don't miss it!

Nice upscale facility without the snobby feel. Everyone we met here was friendly and acted like they were owners from the starter, to bag drop to food service. Drink cart saw us five times. Carts have great GPS system and built in coolers. Great golf experience!
Lake Valley Country Club
Played On 07/16/2017Outstanding!
After reading the previous reviews we decided to play this course, and everything that had been said was true - all positive! Pro shop staff could not have been nicer, the course was in great shape, drink cart had a wider than normal variety of refreshments. ITs obvious they put a great deal of effort into keeping this course in top shape. Look forward to playing it again!
Grand Marais Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2017Its sad.....
Son and I decided to try something new, and were sadly disappointed. The entire facility is in a state of disrepair. This could again be a nice course, but would take a great deal of time, money and maintenance. Its located in the middle of a state park which is on the edge of a pretty dicey area. I've seen it listed since for $10 including cart, and its still not enough to make me return.

My son and I played here for the second time and found the course to be really in pretty good shape. On a number of holes we met with greenskeepers who were fertilizing, watering, etc... There is obviously a solid effort being made here to keep this course in shape.
Saw a few dry spots on the tee boxes, but in reading other reviews, guys, this isn't a $100/round course so lets keep some perspective in our expectations for a STL course in the dog days of summer. The weather in the area has been upper 90's plus and dry the last couple of weeks so its a challenge to keep any course green in that climate.
I would also submit that the people who constantly complain about the conditions of a green are the same guys who never repair a ball mark or replace a divot. I've taught my son to fix his and at least one more. I fixed at least 8 fresh ones from the group in front of us.
The course load was moderate; we never had to wait and there were quite a few other twosomes out there. Also nice to see real restrooms and a beverage machine in the middle of both nines.
Clubhouse staff was very friendly - that's getting hard to find. Bartender and Pro Shop manager specifically were very friendly and helpful.
We plan to return soon!

Kind of stumbled onto this one when looking in the area. Pleasantly surprised to find a course this well maintained in such avrural setting. Nice clubhouse and the course was in great shape. They really maintain it well. The electric carts were in great shape too. Its so quiet out here you could hear the grass growing! We will play here again soon!
Dogwood Hills Golf Resort
Played On 8/5/2013Nice course - good value!
This course is really well maintained. They were actually pouring new concrete on the cart paths when we played. Not sure I've ever seen that! Friendly staff who really appreciates you playing there and knows there are many options in the area.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our course. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience and appreciate the positive feedback. We work very hard to maintain our course conditions despite set-backs in the weather, especially the conditions this summer has brought us, and we appreciate you taking the time to acknowledge the hard work we put in. We are happy to have you out on our course and look forward to seeing you again soon!
