The wind was unreal…..i have never played in wind like that and I’ve been to Scotland a few times!!! This was my first time playing the new holes that were added, and i really enjoyed them. The views of the lake are awesome! And how the holes are right along the edge is so great. looking forward to a return trip with way less wind, so we can properly enjoy the course!!
El Varadero Golf Club
Played On 05/01/2021Fun golf course!!
My last visit to Cuba was February 2016, and I only had the chance to play 2 rounds here that week. I would love to play here everyday of my vacation. It a fun course, with a pretty good layout, practice facility and great views. This is a must play for me whenever visiting Varadero!
I do recommend bringing your own clubs, they are free to bring on the plane, as the rentals are pricy and def older and a bit war torn. The views of the ocean are amazing, and you can enjoy them from the balcony of the clubhouse after your round while enjoying a Cuban bevy or 2!
Looking forward to being able to travel again, because Im way overdue for a visit!

Played On 04/16/2021Worth the wait!!
For us this was one of those courses we have always had on our "to play" list and it had just never worked out. Fortunately for us we managed to get a round in before the gov't locked us down again, and man this course was worth the wait! It was only April and the course was in amazing shape for this time of year. Fairways were lush, greens were quick and running nicely, bunkers were in great condition. The only other ppl we saw all day was a 2sum that we let thru, and we then had the course to ourselves. The course staff was great and really friendly, sadly because of lock down measures we weren't able to enjoy the clubhouse after our round, but we will next time we play here!!
My only complaint about this course is that most, if not all, greens are elevated. They are very undulated, which is fine, but also the grass around the greens is all shaved down, so if you don't manage to hold the green your ball is gone....off and running away from the green. This happened to me on too many occasions and basically it added a stroke per hole. Frustrating yes, but also challenging in a good way. However I did play with a couple less advanced golfers and they struggled all day with the elevated greens and did find them more then frustrating. You def need a good short game to play here!
Im looking forward to golf reopening here, and eventually getting back out here and attacking these greens!!
Kedron Dells Golf Course
Played On 03/30/2021Golf in March!!
It had been a few years since I had the opportunity to play here, I was glad we got to play it again. The course was in good shape this early in the year, the greens were rolling nicely, and the bunkers were even pretty good! Staff was very friendly, and helpful, there was a frost delay but they kept things moving pretty well.
The back nine is def more challenging then the front, as you need to place your shots, and not just bomb it all over the place.
We enjoyed our round and are looking forward to getting back out there this week!
Dragon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 03/20/2021Always a Challenge!
This course is always a great test no matter what time of year you play it! I wish I lived closer.......course wintered very well and was in good condition. Bunkers were also in good shape surprisingly, given the course had just opened and it was March. Our tee time was supposed to 1430......but there had been a frost delay in the morning and that made for a 50 mins delay in out tee time, and we finished in the dark.
My only real complaint was the cost.......yes, this is a great course but its spring and conditions aren't the best yet. its a steep price for any course to be charging the first week of the Canadian golf season. At the sometime, the tee sheet was packed and ppl were out there playing!
Happy that our courses are remaining open, and glad that our golf industry has seen a boost over the last year, I hope it continues!!
South Ajax Golf Club - Lake Breeze
Played On 04/10/2019First 9 of the Year!
Havent played here in at least 10 years, and really didn't have any recollection of the course. The course was in great shape for an early spring round, greens rolled pretty well, the course wasn't too wet and generally played well for this time of year. Staff that was there was great, friendly and helpful. I also wasn't aware they had indoor simulators for getting your golf fix in the winter! Ill be back for sure, later in the season!
Long Bay Club
Played On 10/20/2018Better the 2nd time around
I have a new appreciation for the course this time, and I enjoyed the course a lot. The greens are tough you have to put your shot close to the hole. Larger fairways give you a great target to aim for, but you need to keep it in the short grass, to be able to go at the flags. You need to place your tee shots well on most holes.
This course is recognized by its signature 10th hole, but this course has numerous memorable and enjoyable holes. Most of which, for me are on the front 9. This course is remembered for its challenging par 4s and 5s, non of the par 3s stand out for me.
The course was in good shape, and we will play it again in the future. Its amazing how this course wasn't terribly affected by the flooding after the hurricane in the fall. considering across the street and down a bit Aberdeen Golf Course and its residential community was devastated.
It was nice to return to a course after so many years and find a great course that we enjoyed.
Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club
Played On 10/19/2018After the flood....
No matter what I think about the course......the fact that parts of the course had been under 7-8' of water after the hurricane a week or two before, and we were playing was amazing! Hats off to everyone on the greens staff for getting the course back to playing conditions...Amazing job! The course did have some great holes and a few were memorable. The course flowed well, and was player friendly for all skill levels. One big down side for me is that they have bent grass greens. Bent is a great putting surface but doesn't seem to work down there. They seem to get more abused, and don't handle the weather or the amount of play as well as that grass does in other regions.
This is a great course to start your buddies trip with friendly and helpful staff.

Played On 10/14/2018Our favourite track in MB!!
I don't think there is a member of our group that doesn't like this golf course! Its on our itinerary every year. We love the overall feel of this course, the history surrounding you on multiple holes, and the natural beauty of the low country area.
This course condition has never been an issue with any of us. Yes the greens are different then we are used to but thats part of travelling and playing different courses.
Staff has always been friendly and treated us well, minus one old course marshal years ago that didn't like how/where we had parked our cart, and he took offence to that.
Our group really enjoys this course, and you know it will be apart of our trip again this fall!!
Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club
Played On 10/13/2018Stay and Play here.....Good value!
With our Golf Package provider, we have stayed in the Myrtlewood Villas the last 6years. the condos are clean, perfectly located for golf courses, shopping and bars and restaurants.
We have chosen to start our annual boys trip at Myrtlewood and have alternated the courses each year. They have a great practice facility we utilize to shake off the 15 hour drive the day before, and have enjoy these courses as the start of our week.
This course has a good layout, with challenging holes. This course works well for all the guys in our group, with a range of skill levels. We really like the way the course finishes with a nice par 4 running along the intracoastal waterway! The Course is well looked after, as well as the range and putting area. Never had a problem with any of the staff, we have always found them friendly.
The breakfast "buffet" could use some work, and I don't recommend that, but the food off the menu has always been good with no complaints from our group!
Overall great golf course facility, and a great location to stay for your boys trip!
Woodington Lake Golf Club - Legacy Course
Played On 10/15/2016Open Layout, tough when its windy
First time driving up to this course and it was worth it. This course has 2 18s, and this is the newer of the 2. It was about a 4 - 5 minute drive to the first tee from the clubhouse! Course is an open layout, "links" style, and it was in great shape. every hole has waste bunkers lining fairways which double as the cart paths. Greens were undulated and fast. We played from the blue tees, perfect for my dad but would be fun playing from further back. It was really windy and most of the front and back nine holes seem to play into the wind. On a different note, this course is a "cashless" course, debit and credit card only! that includes the beer carts, which we saw every few holes which was a nice change compared to other courses i play.
Angus Glen Golf Club - North
Played On 10/14/2016Enjoyable day
Thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. Great layout and picturesque holes. We played from the white tees, because it seemed liked a good yardage. By the end of the round we figured it would've been great from a set back, and that was all 4 of us, all different skill levels. the only downside to the round was that the greens and fairways had been aerated. which you need to expect playing this time of year, but there was no warning or heads up from the staff at the course, when i booked the round or when we checked in. Would've been nice to have a heads up. Everyone enjoyed the round and all said they would return and play again.
Markham Green Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2016Short and Sweet
Ive played this course many times over the years. Its only 9 holes but its kept very well. Popular course with all ages and skill levels. For more skilled players, you can easily get around this course without a driver or even fairway woods. The course is tight, and does require you to shape some of your tee shots. The 2 best holes on the course are the par 5 2nd hole thats very picturesque and the par 4 9th which is probably the toughest par 4 on the course and a great hole to finish on. The course is a bit pricy i think for 9 holes, but not uncommon in the GTA.
St. Andrews Links - Strathtyrum Course
Played On 09/16/2016Nice way to finish off out trip!
3 of the guys from our group chose to use our last day to pack up and walk around the town of St Andrews, so the rest of us added this course last minute. It was a golf trip after all and it was the last course we needed to play, over our 2 trips to Scotland, to have played all courses offered by St Andrews Links. Not a very long course, but it was very windy and the course played a lot longer then the card stated. Again, course conditions are 2nd to none, greens were in great shape and rolling well, couple of great par 4s, and nice par 3s, but the course plays pretty straight forward. Easy to walk, and easy to enjoy. If your looking for a quick 18, thats not expensive this is the course for you. Could be enjoyed a first round over there and getting use to the links style of golf, and its located next to the range and practice facility for St Andrews Links
St. Andrews Links - Jubilee Course
Played On 09/15/2016Nice course, great back nine!
Again, we couldn't go wrong playing another of the St Andrews Links courses. course is wonderfully kept, greens are quick and undulated, and well placed bunkers. Not overly expensive and was a good addition to our schedule. Different then the other courses, some holes were surrounded by hills and some forced you to shape your shots into narrow fairways. The back 9 especially forced you to play your shots with more thought to them besides hitting the fairway and avoiding bunkers. It wasn't my favourite course of our trip, but I would play it again, given the opportunity!
Montrose Golf Links - 1562 Course
Played On 09/14/20165th Oldest Golf Course in the World - 1562!
This course is what links golf is all about! My family is from around the bay and our family name is mentioned in both the Royal Montrose club and the Mercantile Club house. So playing this course has a personal attachment/meaning then just playing a great old track. Our 2nd time playing here and again it didn't disappoint! Great views of the north sea from the holes that run along the coast, with tight and well bunkered fairways. Greens are quick but not super undulated. Well placed tee boxes give you a good perspective of the hole and landing areas. Its just a short drive from the town of St Andrews and is worth the trip to play one of the oldest courses in the world!
Both the Royal Montrose and Mercantile clubs allow all golfers to come in the clubs enjoy food and bevys after the round. Staff and members are all very friendly and enjoy hearing about your experience on their golf course!!
St. Andrews Links - The Castle Course
Played On 09/13/2016Toughest course Ive ever played!
So excited to play this course! Views are stunning and the course was no doubt the toughest course I have ever had the chance to play, and I would play it again in a heart beat! Massive bunkers, extremely undulated, deep fescue, and more elevation changes then expected. The views over the course are amazing and the view of the sea and the town of St Andrews are priceless. Not a very easy course to walk, probably worth getting a caddie or if your able, pay the extra coin for a golf cart. It is a very challenging course and not everyone in our group enjoyed it, but if you enjoy a challenge this is a course fore you! Maybe throw a few extra balls in your bag for this course, there are some forced carries that are on the long side, and a few holes run along the cliffs with straight drops to the water! Stunning!
St. Andrews Links - New Course
Played On 09/12/2016The Old New Course! - 1895
We played this course 3 years, and new we had to play it again this trip. Excellent condition, great layout, numerous challenging holes for all ages. Easy to walk and easy to enjoy. This course should be added to your itineray if you are playing any of the St Andrews Links courses. The clubhouse is really nice, with a roof top garden, that provides 360degrees views of the old, new and jubilee courses! Pro shop is stocked with all your golf and tourist souvenir needs. The bar/restaurant has great views and great selection of food and drink for after your round. Even if you aren't playing this clubhouse is worth the visit!
St. Andrews Links - Eden Course
Played On 09/10/2016Nice addition!
This course was a last minute addition after 3 members of our group got on the Old Course and the other 3 of us didn't. Like all the courses in the St Andrews Links group it was in great shape, well layed out, great for working and challenging for all skill levels. Cost was very inexpensive and it was easy to get a tee time. Its also conveinently located next to the range and practice facility. This course is worth playing if you have the time to add a course to your golf schedule!
Crail Golfing Society - Balcomie Links Course
Played On 09/09/2016Beautiful Old Golf Course
Our 2nd time playing this old track, and 2nd day in a row at Crail Golfing Society. This course has beautiful views of the sea and different parts of the course due to the elevation changes. Not a very long course but it plays every inch and feels like a longer course. Wind off the water is always a factor, and can cause you a lot of problems. I think this is a must play for any golf trip and the course offers a deal if you play both the Balcomie and Craighead courses. They are worth the money!
Thanks so much for your review Colin. We hope to see you again soon!
