Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2023Good value but a bit slow
Mid afternoon tee-off with the back nine slow. Close to five hours total round. Group ahead spending lots of time on greens with apparent disregard for those following
That being said, enjoyed the round and will be back

Played On 03/20/2023Grande Vista Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2023great practice facilities
great for practice, lots of greens and chipping areas, good range.
The course itself is a bit disappointing for a Mariotte. Okay but less than expected.
Kissimmee Bay Country Club
Played On 03/05/2023Less than acceptable sandtraps
The condition of the traps was the main and only complaint. Obviously not been maintained this spring, maybe longer. Almost to the point of taking a drop
Rolling Meadows Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/17/2019Good place to be on a perfect day
The course is in pretty good condition, no significant wear and tear after a summer of active play. The best and hardest part are the greens. Great shape, running true but tough. Lots of undulations. Poor read or putt means another stroke, maybe two. Got to keep your mind on the game! White tees at less than 5900 yards may sound a bit short but as a par 70 was plenty for me.
I'll be back soon.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 09/10/2019Great course, great weather, great time
Perfect day. Played as a twosome, quick. Fairways hard - lots of roll. Greens true. Sand good. remains one of the best choices in the region. Played white/green tees which is good for older gentlemen who no longer have the distance. Makes for more pars and occasional birdies.
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2019Good course, good day, good round
Service was great from start to finish, course in excellent shape. Five tee boxes allows you to play at your level. Range is passable, chipping and putting greens true representation of course conditions.
Peninsula Lakes Golf Club - Hillside
Played On 07/22/2019High praise
As noted by my rating, everything was great. Paired with another occasional golfer of similar caliber - longer but less proficient with his short game. Played Quarry and Hillside in just over three hours.
Stay away from the "nature" areas and water of course and ball loss is low. The tree ares may slow you down but its your own doing as fairways are generous. Would I play again? Resounding YES - booked the next round in two days on the way out.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Ussher's Creek
Played On 07/16/2019Perfect day
Showed up a little early as I normally do to take advantage of the range and short game facilities. Got off half an hour early as low turnout and played by myself Leisure pace throughout including a few "practice" shots. Caught up to group in front on 18th green (3.5 hours round). Course in great shape, fairways dry - lots of role, sand bunkers clean and maintained, greens excellent and consistent. Had one of my better rounds.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course
Played On 07/14/2019Needs more improvement
I've played the course off and on over the last three years, very convenient and its okay. What would make it better and attract me more than once or twice a year: 1) improved sand bunkers - no apparent attempt to maintain let alone upgrade. 2) a half-way facility with access to drinking water, maybe sandwiches and washrooms. Washrooms are available but not all that pleasant. I understand the course layout is not conducive to a break after nine but consider setting up a canteen, seating area, a bit of shade, free access to drinking water. I also understand that the carts come around but not very consistent.
Heron Point Golf Links
Played On 06/12/2019The eagle at 17th
One of my favorites - always in great condition and excellent staff. A good walking course except for one spot - on the back nine where there is a steep hill after the par 3 13th - however there is a bench at the top. Now to the eagle at 17th. Its not on my score card, its an actual eagle nesting at the top of mature white pine just off the green on the right side. I attached a photo but have to expand it to see the outline.
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 05/21/2019End of spring golf? Finally!
The course was relatively dry, no standing water on fairways, good roll out, carts at 90 degrees. No comparison to last week. However the greens were slow and bumpy - took some adjustments. Played with four local strangers and had a grand time. One of our foursome got a hole-in-one on the third hole, reason to celebrate. A bit disappointed in that the course did not offer any recognition, no free merchandise, no discount towards a later round, no certificate - no nothing. To me a sleeve of balls, cap, even a ball marker would have been a nice gesture - good marketing at minimal cost.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Ussher's Creek
Played On 05/17/2019More spring golf
A few complaints (whining) follows but did enjoy the round and will go back soon.
I chose to walk again rather than cart path-only. Tough course to walk, mostly flat but distance between holes and pushing a hand cart through wet long grass and soggy areas was a chore. Also more difficult to hit of spongy turf and no roll - anything high will plug.. You can see where they tried to mow the grass and gave up. I played from the white but should probably used forward tees - no roll etc.
However a good day in the semi-sun, Couple holes are long with water just shy of the greens - makes it hard to get there in two. With wet conditions mostly risk rather than reward. I'll wait a couple weeks before next booking to allow for drying out so I can focus on shot making rather than keeping dry feet.
Peninsula Lakes Golf Club - Hillside
Played On 05/10/2019spring golf
I was worried going in. The course was already wet from spring rains and one of the nines and range closed. Yesterday's downpour gave me some anxiety, other nearby courses closed for the day. No problem, Orchard and Hillside were in great shape. Some wet areas but very manageable. Not much roll on the drives but greens at 100% albeit a little slow. Bunkers wet but playable. I walked rather than participating in cart-path-only restriction. This is a hard walking course and if you don't have the legs for the hills, choose to ride. Got off early, completed in under four hours. Best round so far this year
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 05/04/2019wet, wet, wet
Did I mentioned that the course was wet. Not the fault of management of course mostly due to much rain over the last couple days however some areas are the result of poor drainage - the water in the ponds was lower than the water on the fairways. I booked the round with GolfNow with cart but only to find out on getting there no carts allowed anywhere on the course. The only good part was the greens; fairways fair; bunkers impossible (standing water); and rough - uncut and wet. Long hard day but better than most other options. Back in couple weeks when conditions improve. .
Hello, thank you for reviewing Rockway Vineyards. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. With the recent rain we are working to get everything up to par. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 04/30/2019Spring Golf
Course in great shape if somewhat wet. Power carts allowed on fairways possibly pushing the envelop as many areas with casual water. Played as a single resulting in 3 hour round - some nice people let me play through. I typically try and play for $50 of less but make an exception for Grand Niagara and do not regret. Will be back
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 04/22/2019Early season golf
Course is very wet due to recent rains. Cart Path only rule is justified but that doesn't make it an enjoyable experience. Adds time to the round, wet feet, ball plugging and lots of walking. Reason for lower than my normal rating.
Greens in great shape, sand traps somewhat crusty, fairway spongy but overall quite acceptable for this time of year..
See you next week.
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 04/18/2019One of my favorites
First with the negatives: early season play with wet (soggy) fairways, less than ideal greens, cart path only. Lost plugged ball, wet feet.
Positives: excellent reception, great layout, I walked thus alleviated the 'cart path only' restrictions and got more than adequate exercise.
Only complaint - a bit pricey for spring conditions considering soggy fairways and marginal greens.
However, I'll be back and soon. Peter
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 09/18/2018Solid course
The only shortcoming are the fairway traps - light on sand and too many lonnng par 4s, I'm thinking 7, 8 and 10. But I like the traditional look, mature trees, pleasant staff, electric carts. I forgot to mention the helicopters - real pain. But I keep coming back!
Sorry about the Helicopters, they definitely can be distracting.
Peninsula Lakes Golf Club - Hillside
