Good, getting better

Playing golf in NYC is tough - the courses are all overpriced and overcrowded. So Riis is neither of those things. Its very reasonably priced for NYC (and they run groupon and golfnow deals), its close to the ocean so there is a nice breeze and clean air all trough out. The pace of play could be faster, but its not too bad, and yes it can get busy, but its better than the rest in NYC. It is a fairly easy course, with wide open shots, big greens for a par-3, so plenty of amateurs on the course, expect to hear a lot of "Fore!" . The conditions make it tougher, as the fairways and bunkers are not in the best of shape, but the greens were in good condition, nothing spectacular, but good enough. I was here a year ago and that was horrible - unplayable since they were still suffering from Sandy. But they have improved immensely, and considering the price, its one of the best deals in the city for golf.

Excellent course, especially for the price

This is one of the better <$40 courses/round I have played. The facilities are nice and the staff is very friendly. The golf carts come equipped with GPS, which is very helpful, and are in great condition. The course itself is beautiful - plenty of water, great hole layout, some trees, a good mix of short, narrow par 4s, par 3s with water and long wide par 5s. The greens were in good condition and the fairways were excellent. The tee boxes had some wear on them, but it wasn't too bad. And although the starter said it was busy when I played, the pace of play was great, especially on the back 9. Overall, a wonderful golfing experience, wish I lived in the area so I could play this all the time.

Poorly maintained, overpriced for conditions

Considering its only 9holes, and considering the condition of the course, this is a ripoff. The greens were burnt, the fairways were about the same, with a lot of growth to the sides. The staff is nice, but clearly understaffed. The pace was also very slow. Overall, a bad bad experience. There are too many choices in the area to bother with this place at this price point.
