Clifton Highlands Golf Course
Played On 06/05/2016Interesting
Overall this course is in great condition. Plenty of trouble if you are not in the fairway. All the greens slope from back to front, some more than others. Depending on how dry and how close the greens are cut you might feel you are putting on blacktop. Prices for hot dogs, brats and hamburgers are on the high side, but they are what they are. Got a good price through GN and the weather was great windy but dry.
Dolphin Head Golf Course
Played On 01/04/2016Considering January.... Great Course
The front was cart path only and the back was the 90 degree rule due to all the rain in the past weeks. Other than that the fairways and greens were in very good shape considering it was the 1st week in January. Will go back again if the opportunity presents itself.
Forest Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2015Bring your A game
Built in 1959 this course has it all, some of the greens are small others good size. Fairways are wide ruff is heavy but fair. Several greens are sloped back to front besides being undulated and if you miss your putt you will be putting from the apron or chipping from fairway or ruff. A lot of trees and several blind shots along with elevated greens. The tee boxes were in great condition. This is not a course for beginners.
Tanners Brook Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2015Good value for the money
The course fairways were not in the best of shape but playable, the greens were in very good condition. Pace of play was excellant and except for #17 which is a mosquito magnet surrounded by tall trees and a marsh, it was a fun day.
Island Lake Golf & Training Center
Played On 07/04/2015good value for the money
Greens are full but slow, however this is a course designed for learning so that is to be expected. Would be nice if they could use the red white and blue flags to indicate front middle and back but I understand if they can not. Good place to work on the short game and chipping however because of the slow greens not for putting for the more advanced golfer.
Eagle Valley Golf Course
Played On 04/12/2015A Windy day, but the course was good
Considering how early it is in the season the course and greens were in very good shape. A fun course to play with 5 tee boxes for every level of player. The staff was very friendly and do a nice job to make sure each group is where they should be. I will return.
Albion Ridges Golf Course - The Rock Nine
Played On 08/25/2014Rough was rough
This course is always in excellent condition, Not sure why but the rough was EXTREMELY high and for anyone who struggles with his or her short game it was a bear. normally the rough is not that high but the day we played it was, THICK and TALL, however the course is in GREAT shape. Always enjoy playing at Albion and wish it was closer to the cities.
The Jewel Golf Club
Played On 08/06/2014Long drive but the course was beautiful
I put 165 round trip miles on my car but it was a great day and the course and scenery were beautiful.I got a great price so it was worth the drive. Big greens, manicured course just keep the ball in play and you will have a lot of fun. The biggest issue was where the hold was on the green. They use the 3 section system and was told the pin would be in position 3 when actually it was in 2. Took two holes to figure it out and then things were good. This course is not for walkers unless you like football fields and sometimes two football fields between holes. Cement carts paths throughout and the 90 degree rule. If the price was right and I had an entire day devoted to golf I would go again.
Majestic Oaks Golf Club - Executive Golf Course
Played On 06/26/2014Nice executive
Don't be fooled by the short course, if you want to work on your short game, this is a good place. the greens are very challenging as is the ruff around the greens. Very walkable.
Majestic Oaks Golf Club - Signature Golf Course
Played On 06/18/2014Lots of sand
Great conditions, all greens are protected by bunkers. Would have been nice if we had seen ranger who might have suggested to the foursome in front of our twosome to let us play through instead of us having to wait on almost every shot on the back nine. The good news was we still played in four hours.
River Falls Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2014Great Value for money, wish it was closer
Considering we had a late spring the course was in great shape and will only get better. The fairways are good and the ruff is deep and full, some very interesting holes that require you to play the course more than once to learn where to go and where to not go. The greens are large and undulating but still a fun course. Whites are 5963 and Golds are 5237, wish there was something in between, a combo of the Whites and Gold. Too bad it is so far away but I will go back for a day of golf.
New Richmond Golf Club - Old Course
Played On 05/04/2014Slick greens
Over all, considering the late spring, the course was in very good condition. The greens were rock hard and very difficult. Saw the cart girl once, and at the turn and after the round there was nothing to eat except for a candy bar or chips, seems like they could have been a little better prepared. It seems tee times were about 6 minutes apart and we ended up waiting on almost every shot the entire round which is why it took 4 and 3/4 hours.
Crescent Pointe Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2014Challangeing Course
Nice course, still in winter mode but very playable. I have no doubt once the weather warms up this will be a good buy. This course has everything, water, sand, narrow fairways while others are generous. Fun course to play.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 03/08/20146 minute tee times
The course was OK considering it is not spring or summer. Many greens were missing grass but rolled true. Many sand traps were in need of sand, I know because I found them. A tree line course with sand, water and plenty of challenge on every hole. I know the previous 4 days of bad weather, rain, clouds and temps in the low 40's prevented very few rounds of golf but to try and make it up with tee times every 6 minutes, on a very challenging golf course, on the 1st somewhat decent day does inspire me to want to go back. Waiting 5 minutes on every shot does not work for me.
Pinecrest Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2014Well kept course will play again
Considering the time of year the course is in excellent condition. Many tee boxes to choose from and as full as the course was we moved along. Lots of water and sand but a fun course to play and very well kept.
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
Played On 02/15/2014Be prepaired to walk
This is a cart path only course with wide fairways, lots sand and water. The course is in "Winter" condition meaning except for the greens (1st cut is painted green) the rest of the course is brown. It is a wide open course more of a links style. The greens were in good shape and ran true. I can understand a 90 degree rule but with the cart path only rule it makes for a long day especially if you are a single. On a windy day this can be a very challenging course..... and it was.
Old Carolina Golf Club
Played On 02/02/2014Need TLC
Considering it is January the course needs some TLC. A very challenging links style course with sand and water along with mounds on almost every hole. With some much attention to course this could be a jewel. The only nine hole course around and tee boxes for the beginner (1200 yards) there are a lot of possibilities.
Old Carolina Golf Club
Played On 01/21/2014needs TLC
Lots of challenge but 5 tee boxes, 1200 yards for the beginners to 3500+ for the low handicap. The course needs attention but then again it is January.
Eagle's Pointe Golf Club
Played On 01/17/2014Good value, nice course, friendly
First time at this course but got paired up with 3 golfers who knew the course. Course is in great shape for this time of year and the pace of play was very good. Will paly this course again. If you are going to walk be prepared for a football field between some of the holes.
Thousand Hills Resort & Golf Club
Played On 10/20/2013Late in the season
The course showed signs of the times. New cement pathways but in many areas the course was not in good condition, grass not cut for weeks, some fairways in really ruff shape, others OK. Not sure if all the money went to the cement pathways causing lack of people on the grounds crew. Played this course last year at this time and do not remember the conditions being this ruff.
