Mountain/Forest at Stratton Mountain Country Club
Played On 09/03/2019A Mountain Gem
A must play for any golfer in the area. If you can forget about the cart paths and some bumpy fairways, Stratton is a beautiful course with so many incredible gardens of flowers and vistas. Three nine holes courses that all have a different view. Greens and tee boxes are in good shape and it’s a fair layout if you can hit the ball reasonably straight. Unlike many mountain corses the fairways aren’t hard as a rock in late summer. It’s a good test of golf and the pace of play is usually pretty good depending when you tee off. I have play most of the mountain courses in Vermont and Stratton is one of my favorites. The staff has always been very friendly.....
Green at Tunxis Country Club
Played On 10/22/2017Best I have seen it for a few years:
Stopped playing here regualy for years because the conditions had gone down hill. First time this year playing so I don't know the condition all year, but I thought the greens were pretty good for this time of year and course looked great for this time of year again...I used to be a regular for many years....Maybe they're trying to restore the course again..I will give it another try in 2018...

Played On 08/20/2017Friendly place
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the round. If we didn't hook up with someone who knew the course, it would have been difficult at times knowing where to hit the ball. Way too many goofy holes. Other than that , greens we OK, along with the filairways. Pace of play was very good and everyone was friendly.

Played On 07/09/2017Two different 9's
I gave this place 3 stars because it was a perfect day weather wise and then company I was keeping was great. The front nine is the better nine while the back has a few goofy holes... Very goofy. Also, they stuck a foursome out just as we made the turn and they were so slow, we had to jump over them or I'd still be out there. Poor management to do that. The greens are the best part, but very slow.
I will say this, if you're out for some fresh air and the golf is just part of that, you'll enjoy the course.....

Played On 08/30/2016Incredible potential...
The place itself is a bit run down to be honest, but the course has incredible potential to be top notch. The greens were excellent and most fairway and tee boxes were very good. These are the same people who own Crestview and they have only had this course for less than a year. It's in a beautiful area and you could see that in it's day it was one beautiful place to play. Quite, with so much vegetation and plants everywhere. Yeah, it needs a lot of work to bring it back to where it once was, but I believe the money is going into the course first, just like it should be.
I enjoyed the layout and challenge. Not a long course but lots of tight holes and if you try to muscle the course, you might be headed for a very high score. No goofy holes, but you may not hit driver on a regular basis.
Being my first time, the holes are not marked very well. Can be very confusing to know where to go as some holes have cart signs in front but most don't. The cart paths are in tough shape, so go slow and don't have a drink that's not covered. Each hole has a brown post with hangers, but no sign telling you what hole it is.
I will definitely come back and play again when in the area.
Portland Golf Course West
Played On 08/26/2016Fun 18 holes
I thought the course was in very good shape considering the heat this summer. The practice green is the best of all the greens. However, I was impressed with the course greens as well. They're a little hairier and slower at least the day I played. You can also warm up by hitting on a grass range which was pretty nice.
A great place to practice your short game and irons. A little pricey with other deals out there, but if you're a senior reasonable.....
I will be back in the fall because it looks like it would be a beautiful place to play....

New owner and this place couldn't be more friendly. The layout is a bit tricky to follow first time. The 5th hole is the only one that really needs some attention. I thought the greens were EXCELLENT and most of the tee boxes and fairway were in pretty good shape. The traps have many rocks, but you can pick them out before your shot.
It's pretty wide open which is great for beginners, but pay attention because some hole are very close together. There is much work to do here but we got around 18 holes in just over 3 hours and my girlfriend enjoyed the day.
If you're looking for a fun 9 holes with little wait time and friendly people try this place out....
Shennecossett Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2014A little down on its heels
A fun layout but the course is really down on it's heels. The bunkers are awful and once you get off the fairways , There is no consistency in the grass. The greens were good and the views were excellent.
I would recommend it for a friend only because of the history of the course and the fact it's a Donald Ross.
The course needs a lot of work. It's open all year round which is a big plus.
