Royal New Kent Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2022Nothing Like We Have Ever Experienced - Breathtaking
April 14, 2022 – Just completed our 7-day golf trip to beautiful Virginia playing Williamsburg National Yorktown and Jamestown Courses, Ford's Colony, Golden Horseshoe Green and Gold courses, The Club at Viniterra finishing at Royal New Kent Golf Club.
Our travel group typically plays 30 to 37 new courses each year in the USA, Canada and Europe. Never have we experienced anything like Royal New Kent Golf Club. The front 9 is unlike anything we have played. Reminiscent of landscapes in Ireland, each hope has its own unique and incredible beauty, with heather and other grasses that boarder pot bunkers and well-guarded bunker greens. Elevation changes on each hole will challenge your club selection and wits as target golf is required here. Rolling greens are generous in size.
The back 9 is uniquely different from the front 9 resembling Irish links. Wider fairways will allow you hit bombs off the tee but be aware target golf on second or third shots is required as rolling greens are undulating, some with high elevation changes so pin seeking shots are required to score well.
Sarasota National Golf Club
Played On 02/13/2018Nice track but too much construction
1200 homes being built around this beautiful course. Construction equipment along every fairway and detours between holes through dirt paths. If you forget about all of this it’s a wonderful well manicured course.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 02/24/2015Best public course in Fort Myers - Very Challenging
Of the 7 courses I played in Fort Myers, I rate this 2nd to Plantation. It's a more difficult course vs Plantation and would have been my 1st pick however Old Corkscrew is a very popular course, well used and the grass needs a day or two of rest. The greens are very tough, cruel but fair. If you are looking for a challenging, beautiful and well laid out course, look no further.
We are so happy you love our course! Thank you for the review. We hope you come back soon!
Thank you for the five star review. Mike Strantz only designed seven courses from scratch and his designs are never boring. Strantz modeled RNK after two of his favorite Irish courses, Royal County Down and Ballybuinion. New owners in 2018 brought back two of Strantz's team that built the course 1997 and completely renovated the course and put it back to its original look and feel. The Irish design makes for a very unique experience. Hope you can make it back soon.
