Great mix of challenges

I played on a windy morning but an otherwise great Saturday morning. The front 9 and back 9 are two completely different courses. The front 9 is a simple course in the middle of a neighborhood while the back 9 is a very challenging romp through the woods.

I ended up using every club in my bag which was refreshing along with pace of play. Me and my partner are very slow to play so we often let people play through. That only happened to us once the whole time which was nice!

A laid back course

I played at Milt's in order to work on my short game. This course is comprised of straight forward par 3's. The weather has been very wet as of late so the manager is restricting cart use to only those who require it. I just happened to pair up with a guy who needed one however this course is comfortable to walk if needed.

Considering the green fees equal out to $1 per hole, I had a great experience off the tee and on the green. The fairways were a bit shaggy and swampy at times but it didn't slow me down. Trees are well manicured and don't interfere with play. I didn't see a single trap. The greens were predictable, flat, and fast as they dried.

Overall this course is perfect for working on irons and approaches.

Deceivingly Difficult

Hilltop CC is the course where I was first introduced to golf. Thus I thought all courses were like this one. Now that I've been around some more, I feel like I can shed some light on this course.

Hilltop is deceivingly difficult due to its narrow fairways, rolling hills, sticky traps, and thick rough. I love the course for its terrain but it will make you sorry if you slice off your drive. It requires accuracy over power. The greens have been unpredictable as of late because they've been changing how they press the greens.

It is $12 for 9 holes and I feel it is well worth the money. The pace is well controlled because the course doesn't get very busy. Your best bet for a quiet round will be at 8am any day of the week.
