Whispering Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2023Whispering Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/26/2021Camas Meadows Golf Club
Played On 08/20/2014Excellent Course, Worth the Visit
I had the chance to play Camas Meadows on a golf trip. Great conditions from tee to green with quality facilities along the way. Typical to the area mature (massive) trees line the fairways and guard the green from most approach shots out of the rough. Definitely worth the visit, I recommend this course.
Eastmoreland Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2014Great Course in Portland
We had the 2nd tee time in the Morning at East Mooreland, originally we weren't paired up, but because the course had over booked we were paired up with another two some. The course itself was excellent, but I couldn't get over how busy the course was at daybreak. I still recommend the course, it is sweet, but there was a line at the 1st tee box before daybreak! Incredible traffic at the course, no wonder, its in excellent shape. Firm and fast greens, tight fairways and mature trees are the highlights of this course. They are all in great shape. If you spray your drives, you will probably not love this course, because the mature evergreen trees line every fairway.
Orchard Hills Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2014Great Course with Excellent Conditions
Played Orchard Hills for the 1st time on a vacation out to Portland, OR. Overall this course is in great shape, from the tee boxes, to fairways, to greens Orchard Hills is an impressive track. Their staff and pro shop is very accommodating and informative. We received a 5 min tutorial or tip session with the starter and he informed us of many tips on how to play the course. The set us up with a yardage book as well, a nice addition. Definitely worth a try!
Amery Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2014Nice Course in Rural Wisconsin
I played this course on my way home from a Family cabin, if not for that, I don't know if I would have made the 90 min drive from the TC to Amery however I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and design of the course. Overall its a great course, worth it if your in the area and are looking to catch a round. The yardage is manageable and the overall conditions are solid. Worth a try.
Pheasant Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2014Solid Track in Rural Wisconsin, reachable from the Twin Cities
Overall this track is a great course with fairly challenging holes and solid conditions. There is hazards, if you can avoid them you shouldn't loose too many balls, the ruff area is fairly open and playable. For its value, Pheasant Hills is a great course, its a little far from the T.C. I played Pheasant Hills on my way out to a family cabin in rural Wisconsin, fortunately it was right on my route out there, but for the average Twin Cities Golfer, its about an hour drive.
Southbrook Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2014I Played after their Club Championship
My first and only round (so far) at Southbrook started out as a sunny day and ended as a monsoon on the 18th green. Regardless of the rain, I still very much enjoyed the round at Southbrook. The course was set up for the club championship which I had learned was earlier that day. Being very difficult that day the greens played much more challenging that normal I would imagine. Greens played very fast and they were set up with very little room to land, and slopes funneled average shots off the green to protect the pins. Although I didn't play particularly well this round, and a few shots that didn't stick the green were quite frustrating, overall this is a solid course with above average tee boxes, fairways, and greens.
Hidden Greens Golf Course
Played On 08/03/2014Nice Course with challenging design and well kept up
I really enjoyed my first round at Hidden Greens. Overall I would say the course is challenging. Its fairways are fairly tight and narrow and lined with mature trees. The greens are challenging are in great shape. There are more than a few nice views on this course with the different water and trees in the area. I would give this place a try, it was worth the drive. If you like to play multiple courses in a day, there are multiple courses within 5 miles, let alone 1 right next door.
Shoreland Country Club
Played On 08/02/2014Decent Course, but not set up for first time players
Overall Shoreland is a decent course that is fairly well kept up. It doesn't have any hold markers at the tee box, so I was constantly referring to my score card to check for yardages and the map to see where the next hole was.
Krooked Kreek Golf Course
Played On 07/18/2014Great Rural Course, far drive from the Twin Cities
Overall the conditions at Krooked Kreek are solid; the tee boxes are nicely groomed and level, their fairways are lined with mature trees are are fairly open so you can find you ball, greens are in great shape and in some cases very challenging in their small size . One hole at this course that you'll remember is the par 5 where you have to hit 425+ yards down the fairway and then take a 120 degree angle turn back to the green with your 3rd shot. Very tall mature trees guard the hidden green from a fair shot cutting over the trees. Worth the drive, although it is a ways from the cities.
Highlands at Mississippi National Golf Links
Played On 06/21/2014Great Signature Hole Makes the Round
Mississippi National has two courses, Highlands and Lowlands. I've never played Lowlands but leading up to this round I asked around for recommendations between the two and nearly every one came up as a vote for the Highlands.
Overall this course is a pretty sweet design carved into the bluffs near the Mississippi River. Although there isn't any riverside holes, there is one par 3, #17, that is worth your green fee. A tee shot with an over 150 foot drop to the green from the tee box is a unique opportunity provided by the Highlands course.
Only other thing I'll say is defiantly take a cart, you cannot walk this course.
Oak Summit Golf Course
Played On 06/14/2014Solid Value Course
I enjoyed my round at Oak Summit, par 70 course with mature trees and is fairly open so you don't loose too many balls if your wild off the tee. Overall worth the value and is in decent shape, moderately challenging too.
White Eagle Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2014Nice Course, played on a windy day
Real nice course that is very challenging. GPS in the cart really helps with approach shots and avoiding hazards. Overall the course is in great shape. I really enjoyed the round at white eagle, the weather was real windy and chilly for June, but the scenic views and course conditions make up for it. Food was decent, service was pretty solid in the club house.
Clifton Highlands Golf Course
Played On 06/11/2014Solid Course, Can back up big time when busy
Overall Clifton Highlands is a solid course and is in good shape. The greens are in good shape and the overall course is a mature with a nice challenging design. There's a few extra opportunities (besides at the turn) for players to hit club house and grab a beverage or food, which impacts the pace of play. I would recommend it as a value course, however its not in my favorites. I was recommended Clifton Highlands over Clifton Hallow, however after playing the two I would say I prefer Hallow.
Shadowbrooke Golf Course
Played On 06/08/2014Solid Course with good value, but wet
This is the 2nd time I've played this course and I enjoy this track and its challenges and yardage. The fairways and rough are in great shape and finding your ball is fairly easy from hole to hole. Overall its a mature course with nice trees, namely lots of willow trees that are tough to play though. Overall this is worth the drive if its not near your neighborhood if your looking for good value. The tee boxes, fairway, and rough are in nice shape. The greens are a little slower than average, but in good shape. Both last year and today the course was very wet when I played, not sure if its a coincidence or if there is a drainage issue.
Loggers Trail Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2014Solid Course
I enjoyed my first time out at Logger's Trail. Its a nice course that's in the metro area that's easy to get to. It's design is reasonably challenging and is in good shape. I will definitely be back. I had already played another round in the morning, comparing the two I like Logger's Trail better.
Bluff Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2014Slim Fairways, solid course but not my favorite
Overall Bluff Creek is a nice track that is in decent shape but there are some conditions that took away from the overall enjoyment of the round. The fairways are very narrow at Bluff Creek, which isn't a problem rather a nice challenge. However the cut of the rough was terrible and it made finding slightly mishit shots very tough and time consuming. Overall its not a bad course, but not my favorite.
Clifton Hollow Golf Club
Played On 05/30/2014NiceCourse within 45 minuets from the twin cities
Solid, mature course with a solid design and quality up keep. Overall this course is in good shape from the tee boxes to the fairways and greens. The cart path was beat up a bit in areas, other than that really no complaints at all.
Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort - Legend Course
Played On 05/28/2014Top 5 Course I've Played
The Quarry is an excellent course that is very challenging. Its in great shape from tee box to fairway to greens and has a great staff that is constantly working the course but staying out of your way. The views are amazing, the facilities and yardage book is a great help our tremendously and are very accurate. The course is a top 5 play for me and I would play this course every day if it weren't 4 hours away.
