Pines at Woodmont Country Club
Played On 12/27/2019Good course for the price I paid ($11)
Been raining for the last 2 weeks. CPO today, but the course was in good shape. No standing water, but soggy.
The hot deal should be cheaper, but that's another topic.
as for pace of play, got stuck behind a 3 some of 80 year old men who wouldn't let our 2 some pass no matter what. Wasn't with it to call the ranger, we just skipped a hole.
Country Club of Coral Springs
Played On 12/04/2019good local course
Not many courses in the NW Broward area anymore :(
Greens were lightning quick. Got out before the members tee'd off, so it was wide open.
Would go back, but for the price it seems a little expensive.
Staff is excellent!!!
Atlantic National Golf Club
Played On 11/30/2019Awesome course
Played here a few times. Haven't played din about a year though. WOW - course was mint. none fo that crabgrass or "lawn grass" as rough. Greens rolled true.
Will be back for sure.....hopedully the Canadians dont ruin the course.
Paid $28 to play and seemed OK. Summer rates at 1pm were $13 a few months ago as a hot deal.
Palms at Pompano Beach Golf Course
Played On 10/18/2019OK at best
So the course was shut down for a few months to redux the greens. They were OK at best, but very slow!!!
There were lots of barren spots from 50 yards in, where instead of grass you’re playing on “sand”.
For the price we paid ($23) feels a little high. Once the winter / Canadian rate goes up....I won’t play there until the rate comes back down.
For a Greg Norman course, sure feels “meh”.
West at Inverrary Country Club
Played On 09/06/2019Good layout
You can tell the course was home to a championship. VERY NICE LAYOUT!!!
The fairways and greens were in great shape.
Rough was a little high and places under the trees were basically dirt & roots.....they could use some TLC.
For under $20 its a good deal......anything above $30 would have me look elsewhere.
Oriole Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2019NICE LOCAL COURSE
Course is a nice local course. Greens are nice. Not the best, not the worst. They are well manicured and roll true.
There are bare spots off the green (sandy).
Few tee boxes need some work.....they need to move the box for a year or so and let the grass grow in.
Staff is excellent.
Value for money is 3 stars because there are other courses that are cheaper and abetter. If the price was say $13 it would be a great value.
Will be back while summer rates are in effect.
Boca Greens Country Club
Played On 08/20/2019GOOD FOR A CHEAP RATE
I dont know how this place survives "in-season" as they charge $50+ a round. We paid $11 on a hot deal before taxes & fees and that's about the right price. The course has a decent layout, but its a disaster off the fairway. Sand was hard as a rock. Rough was regular "lawn grass" that was left too high. Grass just off the fringe has numerous sand/bald spots.
Not saying that this place should be like PGA National or Breakers, but fix the course.
OH....hole 6 is a par 5 and the tree hangs over the entire tee box, making the left side & center unusable.
Boca Greens Country Club
Played On 08/08/2019Good course for the price I paid ($11)
For the $11 I paid, it was a good course. Lots of sandy grass near the greens make chipping ? pitching a train wreck. No way I would go here in-season and pay $40+ for a round.
Greens looked good, but were a little slow....so the breaks weren't as severe.
Played from the white tees and enjoyed ourselves. Will be back while the rates are low.....then will come back for 2020 summer rates.
Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
Played On 06/01/2019Thought it was ok....
Always heard about the course and decided to give it a try this past weekend with my golf buddies.
Course is in good shape. Nothing was brown. Few patches of rough has St Augustine grass, but nothing much.
The issue is the mangroves and scenery they promote. rarely did I see Biscayne Bay or downtown Miami.....I was surrounded by mangroves everywhere. Due to the mangroves it is VERY HOT out there. A few holes that are more open have a nice breeze.
Pace of play was pathetic. We were a 4 some, but we golf fast. We can finish easily in 3:15. 2 some in front of us were fast......BUT the 4some in front of them sucked. Never saw a started letting people pass /pick up pace of play.
As for going back, I don't know. The stagnant heat due to mangroves and the lack of pace of play kind of ruins a drive down there again. I could only imagine how slow the pace of play is during the winter when the Canadians come down.
Good to go once. Nice drive into the park.....but the golf left something to be desired.
Deer Creek Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2019Heard a lot.....
Ive been golfing for a little over 2 years and always heard I need to play Deer Creek (DC). Finally went out there with my South Florida PGA Pass card and got a rate for $35 which is fair for summer.
Putting green, chipping green, driving range were all exceptional.
Pace of play was horrific, Went out as a 2 some and got stuck behind a 4 some for the entire round. No ranger to come out and have them pic up pace of play.
Course was a little brown, but that's due to no rain....no worries there.
Lots of hilly fairways and difficult greens.
Thought the layout was OK and some of the tee boxes looked like a local dump thats about to be sold to a housing developer in a. few months.
They charge enough year round that they should have an exceptional course. I look at an equivalent course (Jacaranda) and Jacaranda blows DC out of the water.
Decent track and I would go back, but if there is another deal for the same price.....I would probably go to another course.
West at Inverrary Country Club
Played On 05/03/2019Nice layout, needs some work.
The layout is nice. You can tell it WAS a choice spot for the PGA tour.
As it is today, it needs some work.
The greens are very nice. No bare spots. Roll fast and true.
Fairways are hit & miss. Most are nice, a few are going to be a sandy shot from the fairway.
Few tee boxes need work as they look really bad.
Overall for $16 on a hot deal, it was a good deal.
If they invested into the course more, it has a lot of potential.
Today there was a lot of workers trimming trees, so they are doing their work. Just need to give the fairways and tee boxes some TLC too.
East at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 04/30/2019VERY NICE COURSE
My God...the course is in beautiful shape. Tee boxes, fairways, sand, greens, etc.....all in beautiful shape. 1 tee box on the back 9 was meh.
Wish the price was a smidge lower, but the course is beautiful.
Way nicer layout and better condition than Plantation Preserve....which I find boring and somewhat redundant.
Executive at Boca Raton Municipal Golf Course
Played On 04/26/2019Slow pace of play
We all know the course is closing soon, and being moved out east.
The conditions were fine. Greens were good. Lots of bugs on the course. They need to spray.
Pace of play is so slow. 4 some of old men in front of my 3 some backed up 5 groups behind d us. Called the pro shop twice to come out and they said “they are on pace”.
Guess the old people have to stick together.
Mind you season is over down here and that 1 group of 80 year olds held everything up.
Heron Bay Golf Course
Played On 02/20/2019HORRIBLE SHAPE
The tee boxes are cut too high, feels like rough.
-Fairways are in decent shape....not the best but very playable. The negative with the fairways are the divots not being filled AND an abundance of ant piles.
-Greens were hit and miss. They are on the slow side (all of them), but some of them haven't been rolled in months. They are bumpier than a sand trap.
-Sand traps are OK....not soft but not rock hard. it rained a day or 2 earlier and you can tell they were not raked or anything since.
-Driving range is in good shape. All grass, but again.....the grass is cut too high.
-Chipping area is in good shape for what it is.
-Practice outing green is OK. Bumpy and the nighttime lighting sucks as the lighting is blocked by an un-manicured tree in the way.
In the end, its very overpriced. I am a local resident and the course was closed in for 6 months due to "rain" aka there is nobody out there in the summer due to high rates. All Clublink did was mow the grass in that time.
If the city / county / private owner bought the course or if Clublink put some money into the course.....it would be a gem.
Course is laid out for a PGA event (its massive), don't bother walking.
As it is, Clublink is letting this one go into the ground and hoping a developer will buy the land in a few years when the contract expires with the city.
Staff is excellent!
Pines at Woodmont Country Club
Played On 12/11/2019Slammed with rain, kept playing
So we got slammed with about 30 minutes of rain (downpour) around home 4.
Waited it out as we were in no-mans-land and would’ve got soaked riding the cart back.
We had packed up ready to go. Everything looked flooded.
Decided to play when the rain subsided and was pleasantly surprised.....everything drained quickly besides some of the lower level areas (sprinkler heads).
Greens were damp, but not a single puddle within 3-5 minutes of the rain ending. They also rolled good.
We played Pines 9 (1-9) and Cypress 2 (10-18). Not too fond of the Pines side. You have to drive thru 18 holes to play 9. Some older holes are weeds (getting ready for construction) and the cart path sucks. Not smooth.
Will go back for the right price hot deal. Anything more than $25 is not worth it.
Country Club of Coral Springs
Played On 12/04/2019Good local course
Greens are good. True and fast. Course needs to overseed the tee boxes. They are burnt.
Course plays well.
Championship at Colony West Country Club
Played On 10/07/2018POST RENOVATION REVIEW....
Course has been closed for a few months due to upgrading the greens.
Played within the 1st week of it being reopened. The greens were OK at best. They were VERY SLOW and they didn't look how I was expecting, as the course was closed since April/May.
Sand traps were nice and fluffy.
Lots of greens have patches and the greens were very flat. Kind of disappointed (to be honest).
As for the fairways & tee boxes......they weren't touched and are a disaster. For the money Colony West wants for this course, I would look / play elsewhere. Go to Palm Beach & play Osprey or even Coral Springs down the block. LOTS of work needs to be done to bring CW back. Hopefully once the hotel is finished, they will reinvest into the fairways, greens and cart paths.
Osprey Point Golf Club - Hawk/Raven Course
Played On 07/18/2018GOOD COURSE
Course is laid out well.
Played Raven & Falcon. Hawk was closed, but is my personal favorite.
Raven tees, fairways and greens were good.
Hawk tee boxes & greens were recently aerated. Fairways were in good shape.
Would definitely go back......at the right cost.
Wish the parking lot wasn't so far from the temporary clubhouse and also the cart barn. Hate leaving my clubs out of my sight.
Thank you so much for the review. Once the construction of the clubhouse is complete, there will be a few more parking spots added that are closer to both the clubhouse and the bag drop. Hopefully these will do the trick and you won't have to lose sight of your sticks. We appreciate you coming out to play and hope to see you again soon.
Boca Greens Country Club
Played On 07/11/2018Too many bugs
This is the 3rd time playing this course in 2 months and never again.
My God this course has the worst bug problem of any course I’ve ever been too.
Gnats are everywhere - swarms of them.
Mosquitoes are around every single tree.
Very uncomfortable to play here. Golfed with other people each time and they say the same thing......the course seems like they don’t spray to keep bugs away.
Layout of OK, but ever hole is a straight par 3 or 5 and a dogleg right par 4. No character on the course.
Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone due to the predictable layout and bug problem.
Southwinds Golf Course
Played On 06/21/2018CHALLENGING
1st time here. Greens were nice. Recently aerated, but almost fully healed. Bah had a few bumps, but thats fine. Greens rolled good.
Tee boxes were in good shape.
Only thing I am not fond of was the layout. Its "open", but weird. Course is somewhat barren. Not many trees. 16 with the driving range net there was ugly.
Would I go back.....on a $17 hot deal yes! Doubt I ever would pay a penny more.
We played the tips (6000 yards)....dont be fooled by the length or lack-of, it is a hard course that demands accuracy.
Lots of forced carries over water will reward you with short wedges to the green. Lay up and its 165+ yards to the green.
You hit the nail on the head... we're not the longest course in town, but you must think your way around to post a good score. Our only suggestion would be to check pbcgolf.com when booking so you can avoid paying any booking fees; during the summer months our rates are extremely affordable. Thanks again and we will see you again soon.
We're so glad you found the course to be in beautiful shape. Our staff works hard to keep it that way year round and it's always nice to receive positive feedback from a guest. We hope to see you soon.
