Drove from Camp Verde(30min) to play and glad we did. Excellent course on all levels-conditions, layout, pace of play(3.5hrs), snack bar and staff friendliness. If we were staying longer we’d play again!

First time playing and would go back if we were here long enough. Great value on GN and course was in great shape. The greens were in great condition but I just prefer a little faster-they were true and no acne! Layout is nice and the houses don’t feel intruding with many cool views!

Haven’t played here in ages-over 25yrs so a treat to come back……even though I didn’t remember any holes. The course is in great condition and the greens are very fast, which I like. Staff super friendly and we played in under 4hrs. I’ll be back!

This course is in terrible shape right now. Played it a lot last year and for $40 +/- was an OK value and good practice. This year it’s around $60 and at any price is not worth the $$. The fairways still show the scrapes and punches so you have to find grass. The worst was ALL the greens-literally unplayable. They’ve done some type of “checker board” treatment for overseeding or ??? and there are ridges on the edge of each square. Soooooo, hit a putt and watch it bounce or turn every 4” as it hits another ridge. I’ll pay a little more this year out here as everything’s gone up but need some decent Course conditions to enjoy!

Management has their act together and it was a breeze to check in and play while adhering to Covid rules. Course in great shape and pace of play perfect. Both courses are a great layout and challenge.

I would’ve answered maybe to recommend this course but that wasn’t an option. Played this for the first time as it was on the way home from a trip. Got caught in traffic so called course to say we’d be 35 min late. They said don’t worry and when we got there they got us out within 15 min so great customer service there. With a new name I’m assuming it’s changed hands and they’re putting some money into it- upgrading irrigation and it appears to b an upgraded/remodeled clubhouse. Pro shop was fine with great service. Restaurant has no character and looks like a retirement community place although outdoor patio was nice. The course itself is run down. There are no tee boxes! Sure, there’s markers on areas that are mowed lower than others but it’s random grass/weeds/dirt and nothing manicured. Fairways same as t box and greens are very slow with many diseased. Having said that, the course has potential. There’s no “signature” hole but it’s a decent layout with many tight fairways. You’re surrounded by forested hills and u could be somewhere in Montana. 1-2 funky greens and next tee box that could use some rerouting. If they put some money into this and make it manicured and playable it could be a destination.

Wife wanted to play golf at Blackhorse for Mother’s Day(I’m that lucky)! She made a good choice! Course was in great condition with tight lies and fast greens. Pace of play was great with no issues! Check in was smooth and an excellent Bloody Mary to start the day. Needed to wait for a good GN deal as the rack rate of $145 is ridiculous.

1st time here and pleasantly surprised! Course is in great shape and was even more enjoyable as many other courses in the area are crap. This tells me it’s not the weather but rather the commitment. Typical desert layout with nothing really scenic but good layout and very playable. I’ll be back as soon as I can as it was a good value.

Check in was rote and left out some key info like who and how would they call our tee time and then give us a key to the cart. I had to walk around and look for a key to be told by the cart barn guy how it worked. Wanted to make a day of it and got there early to have breakfast as they promote their restaurant pretty good. Counter lady was super friendly but to a fault as she oversold the food. Bagel egg sandwich was marginal as this wasn’t really a bagel. It may have said bagel on the package but was really white bread in a bagel shape- spend a little more money and use real bagels. Other item was a Skillet Scramble which was described as if you really like good potatoes mixed in then this the one. What came was 1/4” cubed frozen fried potatoes that were greasy and virtually hollow inside- you know the ones that look like potatoes but aren’t really! These were simply topped with an over cooked scramble. This is not a skillet type dish so change the name in addition to using real potatoes or getting better frozen ones. Lastly, at this price it’s a minimum expectation that we’d get a clean cart but no such luck. The cart was dirty all over. This is not what I expect from a Troon property and certainly not at this price. Management needs to kick it up a notch and pay more attention the details. Props to the course Superintendent as this was the star!--

Got a last minute hot deal and was thinking the greens were punched due to the price. Much to my surprise they weren’t punched and were in great condition as was the entire course. Fun layout and well worth the money!
